I know its not specifically what your asking for, but I was looking through them the other day and I forget till I saw this thread. Currently its just like some article of information written by some random anonymous person who hopefully is reliable.
I hope my brake caliper rebuild article passes the grade?I put in lots of pics and everything, and not one showed the beers we were drinking at the time!

I'm reliable..... right?

I want to get it down to 1 page if that even but sadly there are so many WTB and for sale topics...

I always thought though if it was ever down to one page you would think NICO is dead?

Bit in a bind at the moment with college and work taking most of my time and money. But I am planning to write several article like threads. You are always more than welcome to cut and paste and replace with a hot link.

it'd be fun to get to know about more people on the site or let members submit articles on god knows what...

I'd help with coding, but I've got too much on my plate right now

I'm pretty damn awesome with CSS. Maybe if things simmer down a bit, eh?

Direct links to the regional forums, direct links to the car model/engine forums.

(that way I wouldn't have to wander through all of the 240sx fanboi stuff)...

So far while looking through them, my favorite is the Tech Corner & Finance section.

I liked the 240sx Project (the one with the air bags). To be honest, I never realized all the content NICO has to offer, I recently changed my NICO bookmark from Gen Chat to http://www.nicoclub.com. This way any new article appears, I will definitely check out.

I brought this up once, but the issue Greg had was, "Who will do it?"

As opposed to pooping recipes?

Personally, I think it needs more "how-to's"

I want to know how best to rust my car's hood, because I hear that makes you internet famous. Additionally, I really want to know if it's possible to mount another roof rack on top the roof rack I've already got. Lastly, I want more ideas of places I can put "illest" stickers, as there's no paint left showing on my car and my cat is so thoroughly wrapped that it can barely breathe.

When i read the entire aritcle about Greg's vert i was seriously hoping there'd be more articles like that to come. So basically every so often, feature a considerable "finished" (in running condition) car. That seems like a good idea?

Not really... Well, almost an idea, and a comment.

To be honest, I NEVER check the home page.Like literally other then when I have been on computers that didn't have a nico bookmark I've probably checked it less then 10 times.

I am doubting I am alone.

Find a non intrusive way to get people like me to check it, right now there just rarely seems to be a reason too.

Don't know what you could do... Its not necessarily articles or lack of content, or even forgetting its there (maybe a TINY bit forgetting there is cool s*** for me to see)... But I come to nico for the forum, not the articles.

One idea could be SOMETHING a long the lines of a "whats going on on the forums" section, near the top, that updates with recent topics.

Maybe not necessarily this, but something that draws the guy who isn't looking for articles into stumbling into the same area the articles are where he may see something he likes, or even a reason to come back. Or perhaps random (or even better related) articles linked visibly on the forum. Best to keep them separate from the mess of links on the right. If the software (or programmers behind it) cannot use key words to match articles and threads, then even just show like the 5 most recent. Again, some reason for the guy who doesn't think he cares about articles to visit the home page.

It should also be easier to get to the main page via the forum. Its not hard, but I should be able to do it almost accidentally. Whether there is a link or not, I don't see one. The Nicoclub.com banner should be linking there at least.

I'm with Red coupe. I never see the homepage unless I use a compy other than this here trusty laptop.

P.S. I've been using this site for years and JUST NOW noticed that you can adjust the size of the text box on the Reply page. Is that bad?

Adding that - Great idea.

Actually, we're adding a function that will allow staffers to "flag" interesting threads... these will be added to a feed on the homepage that people can subscribe to via RSS.

Should be up and running right after the changeover (which we're cranking on 'round the clock).

When you create an article, make a corresponding thread in General Chat. Offer a link to the thread in General Chat from the article so people can comment. This will cause casual readers to register and post, effectively turning the main page and forum into a hybrid forum-blog-thingy.

And do what Allpar does. Create a whole Nissan information site large enough to replace W!kipedia.

Also, more recipes.

We do that.

Also, if you'll notice, the articles now are up and running with the "related articles" plugin appearing at the bottom.

This will expand to threads as we move forward with our upgrades.

(Not familiar with Allpar...)

i think we should give Jesda his own spot on the homepage. "Jesda's Corner" where he can discuss all manners of good music, fine foods, road trips, Mandy Moore, and Jailbait. It'll be epic!
