Sick. And for less than the Atom. Wonder about the build quality. From the pics, looks pretty spot-on, but can't be too sure from just a pic.

LOL, Full Borla custom exhaust. Its a cheapo flex pipe with a Borla Muffler.

Awesome car though.

I think I would save my money though.

Definitely looks cool.... But just like 97 way adjustable parts, it could just be 96 more ways to get it wrong.

It would be pretty easy to build an awesome car like that that drives horrible.
Not to mention I could never really settle in knowing some random put it together.

It's unnerving not knowing everything about a modded vehicle.

Hell, I still have to go reference old files to remember what I did to the S13...

Too many projects since then + too many irons in the fire during the build = WTF did I do that for? :)

Meh, looks like a scaffolding accident. No doubt probably fun to drive, but needs something more than just that 'sandrail' design for the street. I'd also hate to flip that thing ... needs a taller cage!

if you watch the other videos of it, you see the guys house and work shop, it meticulous. every thing is laid out in order and clean. seems like the type of guy to put some quality into the work. there area few more videos of it, like the build project and so.

i personally like the look of a naked car, think of it like naked street bike. the exhuast was confusing cause in one it looks likea nice peice of manderal bent ss but then it looked lieka flex pipe in an other.

I would not buy it.. here's why.

Ebay Deathtrap Seats.
Sumitomo HTRZ II Tires. (cheapest tires you can get)
Autotragic Transmission.
Weighs more than a C5 Vette would.

Steel bars are HEAVY

C5 Curb Weight - 3245 lb

It can't have saved much weight at all.

lol, what?

Your claiming it must weigh over 3K lbs because
"Steal bars are heavy"?

A steel space frame probably weighs < 200lbs.

The frame from our formula hybrid car, which granted is half the size, is under 100lbs. The previous car's frame was ~80lbs.

Lotus 7 replicas are about the same size, made with steel tubes and those cars can weigh less then 1K lbs.

Sorry, but if you're gonna build a tubular street car that looks like a V8 infused sand-rail - DO IT RIGHT! And for crisakes add a top cage and some seats for the youngens! :yesnod

I know a guy who built his own car. It was much better than this. No lame engine, bent tubing, not butted sharp corners.

Bent tubing is cool, but to much hassle to be worth it.

Hell, just using round tubing is enough of a PITA.

for that much weight you might as well strip out a miata and add fiber glass parts. and a dash big enough for just the gauges.

I dunno if that weight was with driver, but our 95 miata stripped of everything possible including ignition cylinder, with half the bolts missing from parts like front fenders and heat shields is 2280lbs with driver. With a V8 it would be very difficult to get cut another 200lbs.

1) Miatae are difficult to shed weight from. Mazda did a very good job there.

2) It is very, very difficult to build a "Locost" as it were with a suspension that's really worthwhile. The math just isn't run very often. Even the Atom apparently has some pretty glaring flaws. So that ebay Atomish car? Fun. But I'll pass.

yeah the way i would shave weight off a miata is to cut the whole front down and build a tubular pipe for the struts to mount to. kinda like thisImage then do a full fiberglass front end bumper, fenders, hood. and take the doors out and weld a bar in across there, then put a fiberglass door outer sheet on. that gets rid of the side windows fiber glass trunk, cut the rear fenders out and put fiber glass in, take the whole dash out and blower and stuff, just have the gauge cluster. and just have to seats.
