So i have comcast internet with "power boost" what ever, and for unknown reasons to me, i was using my old modem for the internet at my new place, when they gave us a new one. (old service was under my name, my girl got the service in her name to get a promo deal)

So anyway, it was time to give back the old one, and hook up the new one. I did a speed test just to see what i would get and:

Holy crap! My old modem got me just over 4000kbps, and horrible upload.

SO i had to DL something to see, and went for a movie, which would normally take around 8-10 hours to get, and it just finished in about 10 mins! It was a 800 meg movie, and i was DL'ing at 1MBps!

Im just excited at the speed difference and had to share.

I recently upgraded to Comcast's top-tier high speed package. I get GREAT speeds, even without power boost (which is what really matters). My upstream bandwidth increased a LOT after the upgrade. I'll have to run a speed test when I get home in the morning. Meantime, THIS is what I deal with at work:

I don't think torrents have all that much to do with your raw internet DL speeds, just depends on who is seeding. I've seen some ludicrous speeds on popular files before and I have a brick for a router.

Oh yes.

but when i downloaded movies before, no matter how many seeds, i would never break the 100kbps barrier, then i just happen to hit 1MBPS with the new modem. I think that isnt a conscience.

Hang on, doesn't comcast now limit to like 25GB a month? Be careful.

I just ran a speed test last night and found that Brighthouse upgrade my connection for free.

25Mb/2Mb

Charter started throttling my connection. I'm switching ISPs and not paying my last bill until I get an apology.
