it is a T3 flange . I have a Hy35W setting in the garage that i tested fitted on my Rb20 it was a no go with the stock manifold the Compressor housing hits the manifold not allowing you to bolt it down . you would need some spacer of some type or get a top mount manifold .

what about clocking it? is there a different holset turbo that might fit?

Why don't you just buy another T3 flange and either weld or bolt it on.

Would that be enought space for the compressor housing??

Do you have a compressor map for the HY35? I found one for the HX but I'm not sure of the differences. The HX looked like a decent map for a 10/12/14psi 2.0L, what kind of boost were thinking of running?

The HY35 will fit ... but you will need a spacer I had to do the same for my rhc6 ... The compressor housing touches the manifold and will not install flush.

HY's have a slightly smaller compressor housing than the HX. HY's were used on auto equipped Dodge cummins trucks while the HX was used on manual trans trucks. They're both decent turbos, and very reasonably priced.

to re-hash an old thread....

any thoughts on the HY35 on an RB25? Would the compressor housing be too small?

Yeah, I'm wondering also, but a HX35 on a RB25 in my case. If somebody can point me at a site, I'll look all this up myself. I've got a brand new one in trade for my T04e P trim which I am outflowing at the moment.

Something sounds wrong with yours then. I'm fully spooled by 5k'ish (1.3) then the boost slowly starts cruising back down to .9 bar. This is on a RB25 as stated above not a RB20 if your thinking that.

HX35 is a good sized T3 turbo and the exhaust housing it comes with is NOT a .48 A/R!!! It is more like a 1.0* A/R. You can find downgraded exhaust housings. Do some research. .

what the hell? I have T04E p trim on my rb20. I boost at 4k rpm all day long. Get some tuning or something. I only have street tune with EBC

just to clarify I also have .60 compressor, and .69 a/r exhaust

yeah..... mines a .84 A/R turbine on an RB25, we spent 10 hours dyno tuning it on a power fc and thats that

the p trim should have a .84 exhuast too, just with a large exducer on the turbin, btw

could be different between brands...idk. the turbo you have mounted in the pics looks much smaller than mine.

I wish I did have a pic of my dyno chart, but after 10 hours of tuning, getting a printout was one of the last things I was concerned with. Bottom line, once the thing spooled ( about 6k) the HP graph took off...

Bottom bottom line, Im trying to find a good holset HY35 for better spool.

Here are my whore pics:

I've got a bottom mount, so there isn't much to see, but I'll take a pic tomorrow. On a side note, I got spanked hard by a stock turbined (running 1.4 bar), heavily bolted on Evo III last night, so I really need to find out what this thing will do on my motor. I need another 100hp and some sticky tires to spank him the way I want to.

O yeah, forgot to mention. It's a HX35w with a 18cm? exhaust housing. Quicker spool would be nice, but bigger top end is what I'm after. I'm going to have to drop/modify my front K member to make this thing fit, so I want it to be worth it.

Okay, I went to the dyno today. 399.5rwhp. It was hot and muggy as hell, but I'm happy with it.

Now back to the Holsets!!

I ended up putting down 300 rwhp on 10 psi of boost out of the TO4E

my supporting mods are: Top mount manifold, Greddy Intake manifold, Q45 Throttle Body, Z32 MAF, FMIC with 3'' piping, tuned on a Power FC with FC datalogit....I think thats all...

what worries me though is the HX35 compressor clearing my valve cover (why I'm leaning towards the Hy35), right now on my TO4E both the comp and turb have about 2-3 mm of clearance mounted on my top mount manifold.

They both have the same compressor, just different exhuast sides, so I don't think that'll help you.
