I don't want to change this NICO forum into a Jeep one, but I totally agree with you Jimby, solid axles are WAY better than IFS and IRS for offroad, any day of the week (except desert running). As you can imagine from my screen name, I've owned quite a few Jeeps from stock to old CJ's with 10" of suspension lift, big blocks and 40" tires. I just really like off roading a lto more for my adrenaline rushes for you can't get a speeding ticket, plus you have a rollcage.
Oh, and Maxnix, what's your address and I'll mail you some tissues to wipe up those tears. Why don't you ever have the cajones to talk to someone directly - you always revert back to trying to rally the troups behind your cause - you picked your battles, you be a man and take care of them. And by the way, just because I am a newb on this board doesn't mean I am a newb to turning wrenches. I don't see you doing anything here except say what others have said before you.
Please don't get me wrong - alot of your advise is awesome for some of these people that have never picked up a screwdriver before, but come on - those parts I put on have a LIFETIME WARRANTY and I could change any of them out again AT NO COST in a couple of hours (and my insurance would pay for any tows I might need). I saved hundreds of dollars and you didn't. Boo-hoo on you. Don't be jealous b/c althought I wear a suit everyday to work, that I am not afraid to get my hands dirty to get a job done.
So MAXNIX, riddle me this, would you have kept a car that need an entire new exhaust (inifiti price over $3G alone), new tires, new A/C compressor, two new fuel injectors as well as needing the leather redone for a car that is valued at $3,000? Again, remember, I got my car for FREE and it lasted me quite a few months with minimal work. Actually, nevermind, you will jsut say something like, "See guys, his autozone car was a POS".
Don't get your panties in a wad because I know how to walk away from a lemon when I have one - I got $750 for a car that I spent ~$1500 to drive for 7 months. Hmm, that's about a $100 a month. Go ahead and keep saving your $400 a month or whatever you tell people to do to drive a 15 year old car - I'll cruise in new, reliable style and still be able to go offroad.
OK, I'm getting off my soap box for good and going back to reading some of those turbo VH threads....
