Alright, here's my little issue. When I start my S14 (after it's been parked for over 3 hours), it shows the engine is cold. Now what really angers me is the fact that I need to drive for about 25 minutes to get the temperature gauge in the middle (normal working engine temp).

When I compare it to my brother's 91 Nissan NX1600, it takes his car about 5 minutes to fully warm up while driving. And Asoomal's (fellow nico naught) S13 KA24DE engine take about 4 minutes of idling to get his KA's temperature to the 1/2 mark of warmth on the temp gauge. . .

So my question is, why does it take my car such a long a** time to warm up? Is this normal?...

Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try hitting the limiter for five minutes.

Have you tried draining your coolant?

Do that and drive for about five minutes, should warm up faster.

Haha. Canada could be a reason. Jk. Could be alot of reasons. I'd start with your thermostat it could be stuck open. If that's not it move on to the rest of your cooling system. It could also be somthing in your temp sensor or gauge. I always check cheap and easy fixes beforemoving to more expensive and intensive repairs.

When was the last time you changed the thermostat? If its stuck open, its not slowing cold coolant down to help the engine warm faster.

How is you fan clutch. If the clutch is seized the fan is spinning at full RPM all the time, pulling all warm up heat out of the radiator.

I've never changed the thermostat. And for the clutch fan. . . I may have to get back to you on that one. I'm pretty sure it might be the thermostat. . . Hmm or maybe not.

After you replace the thermostat look into a proper water temp. gauge. The stock one is little more than a 3 point switch.

The nx has electric fans and they dont turn on til its pretty hot. Your car has a clutch fan. Mine does too and it will not warm up when its cold. The thermostat works great when it's warm so I know it's not that. My old 240 had electric fans and it warmed up a lot faster. I guess it doesn't help I have an oversized radiator and a vented hood. I'm just glad I have a daily Maxima.

Mine takes a few minutes to warm up too. Usually by the time I get 2 blocks away from home its finally upto normal running temperature.

Mine takes a while too, but a couple years ago I lost a piece of the drain plug in the rad and never found it till winter in '06. the car never heated up on my 30mi trek to work and one night it was flaming freaking hot and found the drain piece stuck in the stat.

Right now, I'm running a high temp stat i use for the summer time and should probably switch to a low temp one to make it heat up faster.

I think you're backward. A high temp stat opens at a higher temperature, meaning the car runs hotter. Colder thermostats open at a lower temperature causing the engine to run cooler. Hence why nismo is colder than oe and mishimoto is even colder than nismo.

I used an OEM thermostat. It's weird after installing it, and idling the car, it seemed slow. But just a few minutes ago, I went to test drive it and the car got to the middle of the temp gauge within 3 minutes and kept going up.

Now my car is overheating like a b**** (due to the fact I snapped the bleeder bolt in half).

you have air in the system, that will cause a fast spike in the temp. so must fix that bleeder.Hay since you from BC, I might be moving to that area of Canada (job) and I'm not sure if I should take my S13, how are the roads there?

mostly take ur car long to warm up..that mean ur cooling system is doing it jobs and great or sometime too good to be true..like ur.. My SR took about 15 min to warm up and get to normal operating temp. around 70 Celsius...i have Koyo Rad, Fredstone coolant, nismo thermostat. and if i just part my car at idle for ( let say ) about 20-30 min... it wont get to 70 celsius..it will stay at 67-69Celsius ( 143F )

Hey hey, the roads here vary. It depends where you will be moving exactly. But overall, the roads are above average here.
