i believe the stock speed limiter on the G35/350Z is 145

the fastest i ever went in the G35 was 140 and i let off cuz there was a turn approaching. I've pegged my speedo in my 240 a few times.

Reason for this being:

1. SR20DET running 14-15 psi depending on the weather2. taller wheels/tires in the rear 245/45/17 (you do the math on the final drive changes)3. i had about 3 miles to accelerate there from 70 or so...plenty of time

i hardly think you were doing 158 just because i heard through the grape vine that the stock "silvia" gearing will top out mechanically at less then 150

EDIT:after doing some research this is what i have found

1. the 350Z speed limiter is set at 250kph...roughly 155mph. Electronically limited. Meaning that due to speedo inaccuracies it could be quite lower then this. 2. to go 120, which is the S14 speedo's max, you need to go 5400 rpm (saying you have the same rear gears and tire size as me, which is doubtful...I run a 245/45/17, substantially taller then the stock, 205/55/16.)3. in order for you to hit 158 mph, you would have had to been at 7100RPM using MY rear gears and tire size4. on STOCK wheel/tire sizes you would have to have been at 7350RPM...substantially higher then the Stock KA redline, and about 100rpm from the SR's rev limiter...

coincidentally, this is also 1850RPM higher then the Stock SR20 fuel cut

i'm not saying you're lying...i'm just saying that's pretty improbable at 11 psi on a mostly stock SR20

And last of all i and most people here hate no-proof threads. If you want respect, you have to have the proof to back up your claim. Thats all anybody wants you to do here. Otherwise it is quite clear why you are taking flack over this.

i have video of me passing 2 regular cars (i'm gonna assume 70mph as that is average highway speed around here) as i hit my 5th gear rev limiter (i donno where it is but it's lower)

it equated to me tapping the peg on the speedo and then hitting the limiter, which led to me braking fairly hard while my camerman is freaking out looking around everywhere but the speedo. You can see me braking though and he catches the cluster as the speedo dives past 120 lol.

give me a minute and i'll post it

http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=speed

click it and watch the video, no right click and save cuz it's putfile (advertisement is why it's free lol)

Good lord...55 profile tires on a 17" wheel? No wonder you need to roll your fenders so bad

you are not running 245/55/17 on your car though...you're lying

if this last statement is incorrect, please go to your neighbor's house and tell them to kill you...if this dosent work, jump into the river and dont swim

stock t25 journal bearing turbo is not exactly 91f00 dual ball bearing turbo

11 psi on 2 diffrent turbo will produce different numbers

I am running 15psi on s140 t28, even I don't think I am getting 158mph... I think you got a long way to go

i don't care what kind of speedo error there is. so maybe they were hitting the 140-150 range. that's still going fast! Congrats watchkid, i don't think i would want to go that fast in an s13, i bet it was pretty scary, i'd do it in my s14 though! But anyway, i hate it when people whore threads , but what can you do? don't listen to what anyone says, thats a cool story and i can't believe a 5k car beat a 30k car, that had to be embarrasing for the 350 driver. But congrats again!

THE BURNT SMELL PROBABLY WAS FROM GEARBOX HEATING UP AND OIL EVAPORATING INTO THE CABIN.

CHECK YOUR TRANSMISSION LOWER RUBBER BOOT, REPLACE IF NECESSARY. $8 AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP.

This was done in a Stock KA would of maybe gained 5mph more but air resistnce was winning but I still had positive movement. Civic was trying their best and well, it just wasn't good enough.

Dude, I dont doubt the 350 hit 155. My Sti accelerates through 130 like most cars do 70. I can imagine the 350 with way bigger displacement being able to do that no problem, and it wouldnt need 3 miles to do it.

the issue at hand is whether you hit 158mph or not

basically we told you that due to air resistance, due to gauge cluster designed to be alittle off, you very likely didn't hit 158mph

your rebuttal was: prove me I Didn't hit 158mph

We are not here to hold your hand, we stated sounds reasons why you probably didn't hit 158mph, if you are to dimiss it completely without a proper argument then you, my friend, should take your car and get it dynoed/tested or whatever. You'll soon discover you only hit about 140mph

Ive been doing a lot of searching and asking questions. The fastest that I could ever go on a stock sr is 146. And thats redlining to 8500. I only redlined to 7800 or so.

Loveless I think you got me on this one.

Good argument and experiance...

I was just wondering how wide the highways are in Germany. I personally don't see anything wrong with going 150mph in a 6 lane empty highway unless the driver is drunk, epileptic, or falling asleep. With that said, how wide was the highway you were on Gold?

O yea, float, the US has states with no speed limit, so =). That just shows how seriously we Americans think it is.
