hey guys, i want to so a sr20det swap, but here is where my concern is. on a NA KA going 90 mph on the highway i am at about 4000rpm. is that going to be similar with the sr20det, or will it be lower. like what will the rpm be on a sr20det going 90 mph

I'd say around the same. The transmission is what is important and since the two are almost identical, your cruising speeds will be almost identical.

if you are worried about gas milage, I get better milage on the highway with my SR than I ever did with my KA

i am worried abot=ut gasa milage and i am dont like crusing at high rpms. llike my DD is a 92 accord and at 100mph it does about 4000rpm, which i like. i just dont like to really hear the engine when im cruising. when im racing or trying to accelerate quickly ya, but not on a 8 hr trip of hearing that constant 4000 rpms going my average speed of about 90. is there any other trannys that are interchangeable with the sr?

No. The KA and SR trannies are the only two. You can regear the transmission but the kits are usually very expensive. OS Gilken's Kit only sells the 5th gear with the 1-3 package which is well over 2 grand.

A wiseman once said

"If you give a damn about gas mileage, you better rethink being a man"

Or, you could do the obvious and follow the speed limit a little closer. That'll also save you money in the long run by not getting speeding tickets.

First, if you do not like hearing the engine. Dont get an SR.Second, WTF are you doing cruising at 100 mph in a HONDA?Third please follow the speed limit a little closer, its there as more than just a suggestion. i dont care that you are 17, you could be a professionally trained driver, but you never know what the other guy is gonna do. And i Promise its a lot easier to swerve at 85 than it is at 100.

That's just how they drive on the freeway up there. I was doing 80mph once and all types of people were flying by me, even old peeps. But yes, slowing down will decrease rpm's and I'd suggest staying with the KA unless you have the means of working on your car yourself.

Word. The SR is not a quiet motor by any stretch of the imagination.

i think you guys are misunderstanding me. if i did not like to hear the motor i would have bought more of a luxury car. i like to hear the motor, but not when im traveling like 8 hr drives, which i do alot. maybe i could rephrase, are there any options to making 5th gear longer.

Asking the correct question will get you a better answer. But you may not have to lengthen fifth gear in order to make the SR quieter, if quieter is your ultimate goal. Do some reading on sound deadening material for the cabin. This helps but adds a lot of weight. You could also put a really quiet muffler, but it will restrict your turbo and HP. You could also wear ear plugs, thats prob the cheapest. Or, you could sell your 240 and buy an electric car.

KA and SR transmission have same gearing, and thus same RPM's at speed.

Use larger tires/rims on the back.

ROFL. If that's all you wanted to know this thread should have been finished at the second post.
