DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE HIGHEST OBTAINED HORSEPOWER IS FROM AN RB20DET ON PUMP GAS? I'M GOING TO HAVE SOME MONEY TO INVEST AND I WANT TO SEE WHAT MY TARGET IS GOING TO BE.

With the right amount of money you could probaly get 800hp, or even 1000hp but it would costs tens of thousands and all your power would probaly be above 7000rpms....just like most 2.0 litre engines...so rather than wonder whats the most, lets figure out whats the best for you. Will this be a daily driver? Will you auto x, drag race, drift? What kind of long term budget do you have? Do you already have the RB20? If not, why are you choosing it?

I WOULD HAVE TO KILL YOU IF I DID! NAH KIDDING, I AM STARTING A NEW BUSINESS, AND ONE OF THE INVESTORS GAVE US A $200K BONUS FOR EARLY REPAYMENT ON THEIR INVESTMENT. WE BUY AND SELL HIGH-END CARS. WE ARE MAKING PRETTY DAMN GOOD CASH FROM IT TOO. BUT I STILL HAVE MY DAY JOB :( TO KEEP THE INCOME TAX FREE.

ITS GOING TO BE MY DAILY DRIVER THAT LOOKS AND FEELS HIGHEND. JUST CAUSE WE DEAL WITH THEM DOESN'T MEEN I LIKE THEM. I PERSONALLY THINK THEY ARE OVER-RATED AND WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU COULD BUY A LOWER MODEL CAR AND MAKW IT SURPASS THOSE CARS IN POWER AND LUXURY.

I love my 240 a whole lot and all- but i no way would i spend that much money on a car that, in the end, would cause reliability issues. Now, if I had 100 grand, id go buy a supra or an r34 skyline ( preferably the r34 ), and build the sucker up toblow anything on teh road, off the road. Period. Twin 3037's, and a full stroker kit, built motor and a standalone. Youre talking 800 hp minimum, and at 5000 rpms all the way to 8500. Thats some serious power. Wanna talk luxury-get a rare car that regarless of its lower price tag is still coveted by all enthusiasts. itll run 10 sec 1/4 mile times with a full interior on pump gas and street tires. 9's with slick and 110. No way in the world would I opt for the 240 over all wheel drive.

OHH BUT AWD SLOWS YOU DOWN AT THE DRAGS, IT WOULD CAUSE ALL KINDS OF LAG THROUGH THE TRANS. ANYWAY WHO SAYS I CAN'T PUT ENOUGH POWER IN MY 240SX TO DESTROY ANYTHING THAT GETS IN FRONT OF ME? IF I INVESTED 100K IN THE POWER AND DRIVE TRAIN ALONE I'D BE PRETTY DAMN UNBEATABLE ON THE OPEN ROAD. FOR 100K I COULD GET MCLAREN FAST ON PUMP GAS. ALTHOUGH IT'D BE LIKE 2 MPG.

I think you're better off buying a second car. Driving a 800whp car on the street could be cary. If I got 100k, I would just get a R32 GTR, they are only $35k-40k. if you really love your 240, buy a second one for race only, get a RB25DET and build it, maybe even up to CR (it will run on race gas), go full stand alone. And the rest of the money you can just build your daily driver to 300whp or so. More than enough for the street.

I plan on using a second 240sx, and its going to be a total highend type of sports car style. with whinning engine and sleek looks. I am going to try to achieve McLaren fast on street gas. that hits about 950 horses to the ground right?

Uh...no...it's somewhere around 600 or less. Remember, it's a naturally aspirated V12 built by BMW (think M3 and M5 engines but even better)

I think Nathan is right, McLaren is not that powerful. I just think the RB25DET is easier to get 1000hp out of. But if you really like the RB20, go for it.

I WANT TO SHOW EVERYONE THAT THE RB20DET HAS A HIGH POTENTIAL THAT EVERYONE OVERLOOKS. THAT V-12 IS LIKE 15-20 LITERS OR MORE THOUGH RIGHT? SO IT HAS A TOTAL DISPLACEMENT ADVANTAGE, AND A REALLY HIGH COMPRESSION RATIO.

I'm sorry but for a guy that deals in high end car you know nothing about them. McLaren Cars commissioned the BMW S70/2 engine, designed and built specifically for the F1. This 6.1 litre, quad-cam, 48-valve V12 power unit produces no less than 627 bhp and drives through a bespoke six-speed transaxle gearbox.

I wish I would've went w/ the RB25. I'm currently running mid 14s w/ an RB20 and an FMIC, full exhaust, and 10psi. I am pretty disapointed (just got back from the track). worst was a 15.2 and my best is a 14.0 @ 100, but I got a little ansy and turned it up to 15psi and put a little 110 in. I already have some more stuff to through on it, but I'm really discouraged at the moment. I think I'm still going to pursue it.:(
