Just one question that I can't seem to find by searching through the forums: What's the highest anyone's gone so far with the CA18DE-T? I know the SR can go around 544whp w/o too much strain, and the KA-T (stock except intercooler, fuel system, and engine management) aorund 400. But what about the CA?

It's true there are more aftermarket SR parts. This ND CA is heavily modified though.

I don't think it's that necessary myself though.I'm hoping mine will be somewhere close to that, but it'll be done on a bugdet by myself, not on a tuner's budget by a tuner.

When you said 516@hubs, was that yours? If not, what are you getting so far? And how much did you spend on it?

no 516 is the Ex-ND one.

I'm aiming for 500rwbhp. (just ordered a big turbo, injectors rods blah blah blah.)

I've spent loads but most of that is experiment over the last 3 years.

I'ts only around 260-270@wheels at the minute.

Quote »I've spent loads but most of that is experiment over the last 3 years.[/quote] It's like paying for a college education!:pface. I've done as much 400+whp, but never kept the dyno sheet because it wasn't a major interest. More interested to see how long the stock CA can take 350+whp! It done well........

The stock block SR record is 600 whp.

I want to see how far a stock block CA can go.

reading about that ND car of richiesit seems he has big problems trying to get the car off the linei see 60 foot times as high as 3.88 ! boost starting around 5000rpm that is having something to do with that LOLalso looked at the dyno chart .. not much torque out of that engine...

Yeah, that seems to be the problem with high powered CAs in the fact that we all seem to have a hard time getting the car through the 60 ft zone in a decent amount of time. Too big if turbo will cause this problem as well. I launched my girlfriend's car on the 2 step at 7000rpm, built only 5psi of boost and burned the drag radials up off the line causing me to come up with a time of 14.2@111mph. I mean once the car hooks-up, it's showtime. But by the time the car hooks up, everyone's gone home while my turbo is just starting to spool-up.

most of the dragstrip action found on sxoc general bbs, not the tech.

Richie/ND car is definitely a powerful beast, and the ETs to match will show up sooner or later. Big (peaky) power cars are more tricky to launch, but with enough experience, he should figure it out.... for the time being, you see where the term "dyno queen" come from."bigtone" should have some interesting results also. Clutch, belhousing and flywheel exploded when he ran slicks for the first time recently. Scary... reminds me of some spec clutch episodes.

Nice to see these over the top efforts on the little ca18 tho. I wouldn't go that far. I'd switch to vg30ET power in my s13 if I wanted a smooth, rugged torquey monster... 450+ ft-lbs on ~18year old stock bottom ends, before spray. They can take a 150shot and grin. There is one approaching 700whp on a stock pathfinder bottom end.

cortina-mk1,was your 1.69 60ft in a full weight s13... or the cortina ?Makes a world of difference when you drop these motors in a corolla or similiar.your cortina is top shelf btw

This engine has to be launched around the 5000ish mark to get it off it's face using the bigger turbochargers. At 4k it will bog. At 7k the tires will smoke and you will go nowhere. I'm going to try it with slicks when I put my G/F's car back together and see if this theory holds true (I know it does, but). And depending on how her car does with a new suspension and upgrades, I'll bench mark this car's performance for my own built CA. The ND/Richie's car doesn't use a really huge cam (At least by specs), but it sure sounded lumpy in the dyno video.
