just wanted to put out there that my 89 240's project has completed another stage. I sucessfully swaped out the E motor and put in a DE motor. I put the E pistons in for high compression, ported and polished the head, pdm-racing's cams, I/H/E, and an Apexi S-AFCII. pictures will be available soon. going to dyno it after i get it broken in so i can post the hp gains. the only shop it has seen so far is my friend's back yard garage. haha. questions welcome.

E pistons are the stock pistons from the 89-90 ka24e (sohc)

I am using the early early edition E pistons, from what i have read in here, are 11.7:1 in the DE motor. later ones are a little less. i think around 11.3. there is a thread in here about which years has more and less. both years are still above 11.

bad news guys. i cant get my fuel pump to turn on. the fuse is good, the relay is good, just put in a walbro fuel pump. my friend and i found out that there is power going to the fuel pump relay and that there is a bad ground in the system. we ground out the relay (temp rig) and the pump came on but the motor would not start. we think that it is a bad ecu. going to buy one may 3d (tomorrow) when it comes in the mail ill take it directly to the dyno. unless any of you have any other sugestions as to what my problem is and how to fix?

thanks...

make sure you did not reverse the fuel lines to the fuel rail. everyone does that.

try tappin the bottom of the tank with a hammer or something hard while cranking the engine. if it starts you need a new pump.

put in a new computer and the fuel pump now kicks on. the fuel lines are correct. now the motor will not start. its cranking and sometimes catches. going to check timming and sparks.

my car is seriously possessed. i do not know what caused this fit it threw, but things are better now. fuel pump is kickin on and starts up. although, now that i put that walbro fuel pump in, it hammered my pressure regulator. the fuel just flows past the injectors and back into the tank. going to get some 370cc injectors and a nismo FPR.

baby wants it, baby gets it.

So do you know when you will be able to get it on the dyno? alot of us are very curious to see what these things will put down.

believe me, i am just as curious as you all are to see what this setup can do. although i am having some problems with it right now. i wont have a chance to get it on the dyno until june. I have a two week Army training thing that i have to go to. I will be back memorial day weekend.

i think it is throwing a code, but i cant get the motor to even start to see what code(s) are there. this car will be on the dyno in june.

i will have pics very shortly. if you want to see them email me. [email protected].

Just giving anyone interested in this swap a heads up if they are gonna use stock rings, i completed my HC swap in december of last yr, and since then have had to replace the rings twice. It may be bad luck on my part, but i think its just weak rings. I have since went back to stock pistons, and a small turbo setup... the HC setup is awesome when its tuned and running well, but hopefully yours will hold up better than mine.

I just finished the same swap yesterday. I rebuild the DOHC engine and put my old E pistons in with new rings and bearings. Engines all in but she won't start. No fuel is passing past the FPR. My buddy posted about fuel rail. Everything else is working but she won't start.

BTW, silver240sx. Hope yours works out. Me and my buddy are so itching to see ours run. I wonder what kinda power this setup will make over stock.

OK... so now there is three of you who had the balls to venture into this project, apparently have for the most part completed it, yet no results from any of you... not even a BUTT DYNO. WTF.

I have an extra motor I am willing to do this to just sitting in my garage anxiously awaiting satisfactory results for the go ahead. ****, at this point you can even lie to me, just tell me something.

anxiously awaiting your responseJonnyB
