Hello all!

This topic may have been posted before. I tried to search if I could find anything, although nothing came up. I apologize in advance if there is another topic like this.

Anyway, I’m really considering the 6000K HID 9006 Kit. I really have not seen personally a J30 with it, and have a few questions:

1. Will it be easy to install on the J30?2. Will it look similar to the Acura TL Projected Light? 3. I checked out some prices, and they range from 199.99 to 400.00+? Is this correct?4. Philips bulbs vs. "Other"5. Is it worth it?6. Pictures of HID on a J?

The car that persuaded me to consider HID is the Lexus IS300's HID which looks outstanding. I also have projector Amber fog lights which in conclusion will look like a Lexus IS300 with projector lens when I’m done.

Thanks!

i've seen one in Montreal, and it makes a big difference....., the car looks newer, and the lenses compliment the HIDs, and by the way, it looks nicer the the TL (if you choose the right temperature (in Kelvin)...), i would have bought these by now if i didnt spend all of my money on the engine swap.... but will defenately be my next step before getting the paint job this spring.....

1. Will it be easy to install on the J30?All new hid kits come with installation guides....., and there seems to be plenty of room in the J for the ignitors and wiring to mount 2. Will it look similar to the Acura TL Projected Light?again, if you choose the right tempreature and color, it will look nicer, the one that i came across, had a bluish color, and i can only guess, but i think they were 8000k, but dont quote me on that.... 3. I checked out some prices, and they range from 199.99 to 400.00+? Is this correct?Yes, ebay is the first place you should consider, but dont go for the cheap ones.....4. Philips bulbs vs. "Other"dont know about that, but i'll be researching that and asking friends soon, i'll let you know as soon as i do5. Is it worth it?you would notice big improvements in the night visibility and color of objects at night (few friends run original and aftermarket HIDs, and didnt notice a difference by the way) 6. Pictures of HID on a J?there is one in my head of a J30 in Montreal, too bad i cant download it, but trust me, it looks very nice

i hope this helps, if you go with HIDs, please post pictures.....

I received alot of compliments on these bulbs when I had them in...

I don't have them in anymore, anyone have a set that gives the same look?

They started to give me problems with the relay (which had to be replaced) after a while...

Look there,Before i Sold my J , i took the Kit out, and it has been sitting in my garage, but let me tell you, it is totally worth it. About the kit that i use, a friend of mine get it for me when he was in Hong Kong, it cost me $150, took me about 45mins, if anyone need some question of how to install those aftermarket kit, i can send them some installation pics.

would u mind just posting them on here?? the installation pix that is.

EDIT:when getting a hid conversion kit, what exactly has to be converted?? is there like an adapter for the actual bulb itself?? or are there 9006 style hid lights??

pics coming later, but the HID kits you are getting now are pretty much plug n play, the biggest thing you have to do is to find a place to mount the ballast.this is a pic i copy from one of the ebay sellers.

This may sound stupid, but the hardest part I would see for me personally is connecting the Factory Harness to the HID Wiring Harness. How easy or hard is it.

BTW, thank you all. So far I’m 105% convinced to get HID now.

The beam pattern is just so tight, and your right, it makes the car look 10 years newer!

When you say "cheap" ones what do you mean? $199? I found some for around that amount. I also had seen ones for $499. Could someone recommend the ones they particularly got for there J30? The brand and the website they got it from would be greatly appreciated!

Next question: I originally wanted 6000K color temp HID's. For the J30, do you guys recommend 8000K? It seems like that from reading your replies?

as far as the temperature, i would think its more of a personal preference. weather u like the pure whiteness of the 6000K or the slight blue-ish tint of the 8000K. my preference would be the 6000K when i do decide to buy a set for myself.

now i got a question, if u were to get a set with 6000K bulbs, could that later be switched out for like 10000K bulbs, or even like 4000K(??) bulbs?? or is one set of ballasts only good for one type of bulb??

Actually it's just about removing the bulb and changing it with a different K temp bulb. Almost as easy as halogens in this respect.

To clarify my question in my last reply, I always seen that 4300K is the White, 6000K is the Blue, and 8000K is a more "dark intense" blue. Then I thought to myself what K temp is that bright teal green color??? This just made me more confused?

Xenon bulbs are around 90 to 100 bucks.

Well, i find that it is more accurate for the the color and light output in this page, By going higher K # you got a different color, with less usable light not more. FYI, i don't know the guy that sell that stuffs in that ebay store, nor i have brought anything from them before. I just point out the pics, not their products.
