IIRC the hicas light being on means that the hicas system has a problem (typically low power steering fluid) and is not going to activate while the light is on.

With that said, no, I've never drifted my car with the hicas light on. Supposedly the system should remain off but there is that small possibility of the rear wheels pivoting on their own under the stress.

Also, drifting with a hicas car is not very troublesome. When trying to link drifts I find the car to be a little unstable but I'm sure that if I were a better driver it wouldn't be an issue, as you learn to adapt for it easily. I'm suprised so many people say that hicas is bad for drifting because I haven't met many people who actually own and drive a hicas equipped 240sx. Not calling anyone out...just an interesting thing to note.

Nah hicas won't mess you up to the point that you should avoid it imo, and I agree with someone earlier, it's worth it to get the lsd/steering rack that comes with hicas cars if the price is good and the lsd works.

I doubt it will be a problem for daily driving, but don't take my word for it =pI would suggest deciding what you want in the long run and either picking up a lock kit/non-hicas subframe if you won't use it, or getting it fixed if you will.

i thought this whole time that when the light came on it was active. When i first got my car and tried to drift it or take hard turns, the light would come on. But recently, even during drifting, the light doesn't come on.

It will say SUPER HICAS on the car, and on the rear subframe there will be these hydraulic looking controll arm thingeys on the back behind the lsd.

Plus if you pop the engine bay, the system of it will be on the right hand side of the engine bay all the way to the back. If it doesnt have it, it wont say super hicas, and wont have an LSD. Thats the easiest way to tell.

Also the power steering fluid resevoir is considerably different. It's a good bit bigger and more prominent looking.
