That's just me....
For what it's worth, I didn't type out that whole post to attack you. You just gave me the opening to make a point I'd been wanting to make for awhile.

I just thought it was interesting to see how his base has been pared down to what is now quite obviously just one very homogenous slice of American society. I'm not sure that's ever happened to a sitting President before.

You attacked me on purpose and for that I will make you pay dearly.....I will I say....

I was "his base" in that I voted for him and I agreed with going into Iraq. In '04 I would have voted for a dem if there was a decent one put up (Kerry wasn't it). Only time will tell the truth about Bush's presidency, just like it has with Reagan.

You don't see how having good relationships with other countries can be an advantage to us?

So if we elect Obama will we get more help?

I know it only seems reasonable if other countries like our President, but I'm still not sure what difference it makes. And keep in mind, people were polled, not governments.

More help than we currently have.

Well, it isn't my job to convince you what difference it makes. We'll have to agree to disagree on this point I guess.

Bah.

People dislike brussels sprouts too. A survey assessing the popularity of a president among people who may or may not know d!ck about politics is pretty irrelevant to me.

People thought JFK was "wonderful" - Ask any of them WHY and you'll get blank stares, retarded responses, and you may even get called a nasty name.

Brussel sprouts = good.

JFK = very good. Other than Regan, he one of the few with the nads to stand up to the evil Russians and make them believe in our desire to keep this hemisphere free of their evil influence. (that is the "cold war Russians")

He also enforced some pretty unpopular laws in the south at that time too. And he had a very cute, classy wife.

And finally, Bush has led the US into an all time low in world opinion. Unfortunately, it appears Obama may be the one to correct that.

Same with Obama. Ask what he stands for or what the details of his Hope and Change policy is and they respond with how charismatic he is

But will Obama stand up to Putin? After all, he's made it quite clear he longs for the "good old days" of Soviet Russia.

Well the you should've mentioned that first before saying "nice old data." Now when I come up with current data, you criticize the participants. Jesus Christ.

I wouldn't call what you did as dismantling my argument, just nitpicking.

You're a tax auditor? For the IRS?

SC, I like you, but you presume WAY too much...

Not a tax auditor. I run a one-man IAB for a large State agency.

Scared? Pfffft.

No chance. Besides, who's afraid of a little pacifist hand-wringer?

being young, its my responsibility to get democratic gene. as one gets older (wiser?) one loses that gene, and is replaced with the republican gene. you know, because you start making money and decide you dont want 75% of your income to fund stuff like praying for cattle as they enter the slaughter house. oddly enough though, most of that sort of junk comes from the republicans. who knew?

I bet you're probably a fiscal conservative, but yeah, maybe not a social one.

Unfortunately, there seem to be few Republicans like you these days. More and more GOPers are to the right of Jerry Falwell socially but are all about spending taxpayer dollars.

This is why I'm no longer really enamored of the GOP, it doesn't seem like it's made up by real conservatives anymore, more just that they have a "moral agenda" and the nuts and bolts of running the country are secondary.

I mean hell, we had Clinton (often an embarassment), but he was a DEM President who was a competent "pay as you go" fiscal steward, and then we have Dubya, who seems to write checks and rack up debt for the fun of it! WTF!

The fundamental character of both parties has changed seriously in the last two decades, and I think a major realignment is coming. As more and more people my age grow up and start taking the reigns, I expect the GOP to resemble the Libertarian party more and more (i.e. socially progressive but otherwise small-govt fiscal conservatism). The Dems are badly fractured, with old-school populists on one hand and the socalist coastal elite on the other. Not sure what they're going to do with that....if it wasn't for the GOP's current staggering unpopularity they'd be helpless. They're only "winning" because the other side is shxtting the bed so badly.

Hopefully the "Moral Majority" will splinter off into their own third party and field losing candidates for a few decades before falling on the scrap heap of history. They've sullied my Grand Old Party quite enough.....

Just remember ...

Those wacky religious nuts got Republicans elected to the Congress. I'm not all that enamored of them either, but it's good to be in power. Most Republicans aren't social conservatives - it's just that they're the loudest constituency, to the detriment of the Party, unfortunately. Too many people think Republicans are all anti-evolutionists, etc.

I'm also a fiscal conservative and a social moderate, like most Republicans.

and remember which teat they suck on for that power. you dont bite the hand that feeds you. if they arent anti-evolutionists, they are sure doing a good job hiding it. im so sick of the christian right and their claims of descrimination. wanna live in a christain country, move to mexico. wanna live in a secular -areligious country, welcome to america. you cant claim religious tolerance, while pushing your religion down the throats of christians and non christians alike.
