Now here are pictures of the car itself. I know that I'm supposed to post these in the member's rides section, but I cannot get into it. So, I'll post them on here.

Here are the guages that I installed where the ashtray used to be. I know that there is a slight gap around it. I will probably make something out of fiberglass, to fix that.

Hehe. Notice the Walmart receipt in the passenger side footwell . I love that place. Also, that black thing in the passenger side is the ashtray.

Here is a picture of one of my $20 speakers that I used to replace the crappy bose ones with. I didn't feel like buying a new head unit and/or amp. So, I used the bose amps.

Ok, now back to the Under-Plenum job.

I previously mentioned the idea of using SS hose/tube to replace the OEM stuff. I was at Lowes today, and I saw the SS hoses that are used for gas lines. This stuff is not lined with rubber, the metal is what actually contains the gas/liquid.

Now, my thinking is this. I could use this stuff instead of rubber hoses. To make the transfere from the OEM metal lines to the SS stuff, I would use a ~2in piece of rubber hose, one end on the OEM part, in the other end, I would put a fitting that is barbed on one and has a threaded coupling on the other end. From the threaded coupling, I would screw on the SS line and run it to where ever I needed to. On the other end, I would do the same thing as before, to hook it up to the OEM part.

What do you guys think about this IDEA.

GAH! How could you do that to such a beauty Q...

Silver over black.!!!!! Very nice Brien.....

I will say those guages, have GOLDEN potential... id prefer some black face guages, or some black digital ones (as seen on summitracing), but thats nice too!!!!!

Ok, let's take a vote. What do you guys think of the Chrome fender trim pieces that I have on my Q45?

I personally think that they look best on either a silver or black Q45. Also, the trim matches the door handles.

Its not my favorite, but it looks better on silver than it does any other color IMHO.....

I think it would do just fine without them though... It draws more attention, so people are looking at these things instead of the restof the car.....

PMQ, you don't want to ask what folks here think of chrome fender trim. Seriously.

It'll just make you mad.

I want your guys opinions on them. Along with your opinion, please tell me what you like or dislike about them.

And don't give that crap about them drawing too much attention. Or too much bling. IIRC, you guys were lusting over those chrome side visors that go over the windows.

JDM G50 chrome visors are different. You don't see them on 1987 Grand Am's with 13" Daytons and bass-boat paint jobs.

Well, you asked for it: They're ugly. They're REALLY ugly.

BUT, you like them, and that, my friend, is ALL that matters.

One thing that I like about the trim pieces is that they match the door handles. They're both chrome. To me, this makes them appear a little more OEM.

Hey look, I didn't start an arguement . That's a first

What do you think about the car as a whole? What about the guages? The wheels? My ghetto rigged rear speakers?

I dont really like your jerry rigged stereo. I think your going out of your way to ghetto rig this thing, so it looks aweful, a home stereo in the back seat, come on now!!! Thats uncalled for.. The speakers in the back arent a big issue to me, I dont really care, especially if yo u cant see all that jerry rigging..

But hey, if your happy with it, dont mind us, we like our cars perfect...!

I REALLY like those guages, and could you tell me the diameter of each one. I have my eye on a kit from summitracing and I want to know how big they are, so I can judge how much room they will take up.....

Or sink the gauges into the wood lid of the ashtray, I think someone else on the forum was doing that. It would look very classy.

I'd rather keep the ash tray. I keep change, holds my pack of smokes, or my cell phone. Lack of bins in the Q, the ashtray is all you have left. To tidy up those guages, get a flat piece of plastic or carbon fiber and cut it to shape. What are the 3 guages? I could see oil presure. That's what Wes should have on his next Q. What else would you need? Then it becomes something to look cool.

Your Q didn't have the wood ashtray, but if you still have your old ashtray around, use that and it will be a cleaner install.

I posted a picture of the stereo that I had in the back seat. I took the picture when the system was out of the car.

Nice looking Q there pito. I think that the chrome looks best on Black and silver Q45s.

I didnlt "jerry rig" it on porpose. I was too lazy at the time to make a new mount for the amps. I might mount them a little cleaner. Also, you cannot actually see the amps hanging down. Even when you look in the trunk. Because I usually have the divider they.

No way, Wes actually likes something that I did. And you guys said that it would look stupid, when I suggested this idea before. Haha. score 1 for me

I think that the guages are each 1 3/4in diameter.

Look in the passenger side footwell. Do you really think that I keep my stuff organized?

Please don't tell me that you smoke in your Q45.

Ya, I was thinking either fiberglass, carbon fiber, or plastic could be used to clean it up.

The three guages are Oil Pressure, Temperature, and Voltage. Also, the guages have built in lights, that can be controled by the dimmer for the dashboard.
louiegz wrote:Your Q didn't have the wood ashtray, but if you still have your old ashtray around, use that and it will be a cleaner install.
The ashtray doesn't work. Most of the mounting pieces are gone. Also, cutting the ashtray might be a little difficult. I would use a rotor tool with a cutoff disc. This would cause the plastic to melt. And that wouldn't look very clean. A might be able to use a razor knife to cut it.
