LOL, I'm just playing man, I don't even know what the mod it is that you purchased!!! :D You kinda jumped in on me and freak (that sounded really bad). I just like breaking balls, but I am curious on this mod, did you gain anything from it? Was it worth the time/money? How long have you been running it for? Let me know please, sorry if I missed one of your previous posts, but I was only playing

peace

heh alright, it's cool. Well, I don't have anything to compare it to and it's not dynoed, but somewhere along the line, I felt a little hp gain. First I put on the open air filter, didn't feel a big difference. I took out the resonator about a couple weeks later, and I just noticed it kinda got louder. About a week later, I put on the dryer tubing whatever from homedepot and then I felt a difference. Maybe it's only psychological horsepower, but oh well. It's not something I like to brag about. I mean, you don't(or I hope you don't) brag about having an intake. The main reason I bought it was for better fuel efficiency, anyways I'm sure it can't hurt performance.

OH, the basics! yeah, I think there are gains, marginal, but gain in HP all the same! I only say I have a nintake when people ask what i've done, but it is nothing to brag about!

:D

cheers!

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Lost_To_A_K-Car [BYou misunderstand the concept of rice.

Ricers don't make effective CAIs out of dryer vents. They purchase $500 chrome electroc turbochargers that do nothing to improve the performance of the car.

The essence of ricer is, in Camarospeak, "all show and no go".

Now that's not entirely true. If I had a 98 240, and had to choose between show and go, i'd choose "go" and go all out. I'd get a elegant body kit (the bomex), paint it jet black, and put some 17s on it. It would be a very clean, and great looking car.

This makes me a ricer?

No. I'm sorry, but it does not.

A ricer is someone who follows fads set by companies like APC, and try to convice people that their car is something its not, i.e. stickers, GT-R badges (who do you think you're fooling?). I've seen people in civics with the worst sounding exhaust in the world, but they've got more mods than most people, and are serious about tuning their car toward performace, and not caring about the looks of the car. That's an enthusiast.

Nick.

I have noticed that this board some people always thinks they are a master mechanic or the best knowledge book on two feet, I am new to this board so I might not see things deeply, but I know you guys stress going to the search first, but sometimes it's hard to look for certain topics you need help on, after I read this thread I found out I just asked the same topic about my suspension also, that doesn't make me any less stupid....not everyone KNOW to go to the search to find help, this board is to HELP 240sx owners out in any way possible...so what if a topic is being repeated, if you were any help you'd just reply with a simple "please go to search topics it's already been talked about" then no one would be "flaming" at anyone. I joined this board to get help from other friendly 240sx owners whos willing to help with any problems I might have, not to be picked at cuz I didn't check the search first. Thank you and I apologize for making a new thread about this suspension topic!

dude, if you read the sticky's and the threads entitled "all newbies read this" or something along those lines, you would have gained the experience of the moderators and vets on this board and been one step ahead of the average newbie.

What do you want your suspension for, street, track (drag or autocross) or show? There are so many different set ups, it is pretty easy to not get what you are looking for. Mine is setup for street and autocross, still have some work to do, but I am happy so far with the setup.

still looking (actually saving up) for rear stut tower brace, front pillow mounts, and an upgrade in sways (suspension techniques or whiteline)

yea I did some research and tiens costs too much....it probably is good performance for the price but I aint got money to spend $2000 on coilovers, I rather go wid tokico or AGX. About my suspension set up I want it for street/autox. I just want a whole new suspension set up because my 89 is gettin very crusty and rusty, I wanna start driftin but I don't want my axels to fall off. I understand that the main components I need to replace first are

Control ArmsSpringsStrutsAxelsBushingsFront/rear tower bars

I don't know what's better to buy OEM parts or aftermarket, I know SOME aftermarket parts are cheaper than OEM, but I don't know where to look. Keep in my mind I have a budget to keep.

Bob, they buy gas in gallons, where we buy litres. 3.6L = 1 Gallon. You can do the math, but our price per litre was up to 74.9 today. I believe even though the yankee's are bombing the crap outta the middle east, they still get cheaper gas! Not to mention they buy their crude from Alberta as well, WTF?

Just because something is cheaply priced, doesn't mean its crappy quality. If you are gonna buy teins just for the street, you're an idiot wasting your money. That is a high performance system, which should be put to good use on the track, not for profiling on the streets with your speed bump scraper! Just me, but so far,the tokico's are holding up to the abuse of toronto potholes, and my car sits pretty low, so it looks good to (not like I bought them for their looks).

One big advantage with coil overs, is obviously the adjustability factor, but I also like the fact you get pillow mounts, front and rear. A complete package, although pillow mounts can be purchased seperately.

shox.com has the best prices on the net, but no one could beat my shops price on shocks. Shop around locally, and see if shops can locate you parts for cheap, they charged me their price on shocks (wholesale), and I just payed them labour.

good luck, and be wise with your money, don't buy a product when you won't get full use from it, just to tell all your high school buddies you got tein COIL OVERS. That is the rice boys way, young grasshoppers!!!

:P

Are you calling me an idiot? lol

No i plan to race up at Mosport a bit... the teins are the only way to go... i know they buy it by the gallon... you think im an idiot... lol... their money is also worth more so it may seem like it's cheaper than it is...

the way i see it... teins are a very worthy invesment... people around here are constantly buying new stuff to take on local competition on and off the track... teins are outta all their price ranges... once i have themnot only do i have their quality and performance but i have something they cant amount to... teins on an already amazing handling car is going to be wonderful for track use... especially when i smoke you... grasshoppa LOL :)

I agree, I will be honest, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my tongue, and everything I got until now is earned by me, so it's a lil too much for my budget for my taste, I was wonderin is there any other coilover set up (where can I get it at, please list detailed info.) I can get for about 500-700? that's a bang for it's buck. (you might be thinkin im cheap, but hey money doesn't grow on trees)

not calling you an idiot bob, but there are other worthy suspension components out there. I went broke on my suspension, and kinda regret it now, but whatever, it was money well spent. Check ground effects, and suspension techniques? Email shox.com, they will give you all coil over set ups, they have a pretty cheap one for the s13, forgot what system it was though.

coil overs aren't really that expensive, when you consider all that you get, it would cost double to buy those parts individually.

my clutch is worked in now, boy, wanna drag, young grasshopper?

As soon as i get rid of my below OEM standard exhaust, and let my freaking car breath.... it sounds like a congested monket right now... the idiot i bought it off got piping WAY to small and it's pinching and choking my cars ehaust causing back pressure...
