Hey guys I just bought my 92 240sx and I want to put a turbo on it eventually but its not in my budget right now. Can anyone give me suggestions on what to do first to make it perform better to get it ready for the turbo in the future? I already have shocks and struts, wheels and tires, and short ram intake.

my main goal for the future is to be pushing 400whp at the least. I dont care if its street legal I want it to be a touring car. My budget is verry low, like 1k for the whole system right now thats why i want to wait for later to get more money. the money will come in slowly cuz im in high school. my engine has 130k miles on it right now so id probabilly have to rebuild it or buy a new one.

you have to be crazy to think your going to get 400 hp with a 1k limit. i know you are talking about in the future but even a low budget turbo system is over 1k. search around.

thats not what im saying. Im saying that if i bought my turbo right now 1k is all id have to spend on it. Thats why im waiting for later when i can spend more than 3k on the turbo at least.

take that 1k now, finish the suspension by getting bushings, various bars/braces, etc., youll need z32 brakes to keep it under control, and a nice lsd would help a lot too

also i just noticed you dont have an exhaust yet, thats something that youll be able to use before and after the turbo, cant say the same for the intake...anyway look into a nice exhaust, that will help

anything from a vlsd from a 240 if you dont have one already all the way to a full clutch type

you say you want a touring car, i take it no drifting then...if you want a clutch type get a 1.5 way

you can also get an hlsd from quaife or an s15, either way theres things you have to do to get an hlsd

for a vlsd im going off the assumption your car doesnt have one already, you might look into that...if it doesnt, 240sx, 180sx, j30, z32, all bolt in IIRC

look at the diff. from under the car and if there is an orange sticker that says "vlsd" then you have one. or you can jack up the read end of the car and spin one wheel and watch the other one. if they both sping the same way then you have a vlsd.

nope because of the different chassis

if you couldnt find the orange sticker chances are youll need to get an lsd...the vlsd from s13s is a good place to start

eh ill make it easy...

vlsd is a type of lsd, the v stands for viscous (sp?), it basically uses thick fluid to create the limited slip action, whereas the clutch type uses a series of clutches

No. http://w1.igateway.com/clients...=form this is a good exhaust. that one MIGHT be okay. what I'm trying to say is it's all subjective.

Obviously, you're not searching right . If you check out other exhaust threads, you'll realize BRM Exhaust (owned by AZHitman/Greg who also runs this board) is arguably one of the best exhausts.

He has tons of options to choose from in regards to material, piping, resonator size, muffler tip (2 choices), etc. AWESOME QUALITY, I have one sitting in my garage right now waiting to be installed later w/ the turbo.

An exhaust is an exhaust for the most part.

Those 3" Ebay systems will have the same gains as most others out there on the market.

I've owned about 5 different exhausts for my 2 240's and honestly why bother not getting the EBay junk. It's simply too cheap and it works.

Oh and to the poster.

Go ride in a 200 - 250whp 240 ... it will re-align your conception of what you want and give you a very good idea of what 100whp feels like. I think you will be surprised.

yea but how much is that? Probabilly more than i want to spend. All i need is a $400 or cheaper exhaust.

your best bet then is to go to a muffler shop. have them make the setup you want and get a magnaflow to cap it off. in the end you will get what you want. I've done it for various cars and it never cost me more than $300 bucks.
