just say its not a "performance car". 90 240sx gots a single cam, just say its really not that fast. my dad didn't want me to get mine, but then i bought it and brought it home. i let him drive it and then he respected it aswell as my decision. once you bring that car home and make it yours, they'll get over it.

I've tried telling them that it's not a high performance car, but they don't wanna listen. She keeps telling me "You're not gonna go racing around" as in street racing. I tell her I have no interest except for some local SCCA events at Saylorville. Plus-

1. There's nowhere to do it here.2. 3 kids at my school died in a high speed crash, the driver was my friend and he was just found guilty of 3 counts of vehicular manslaughter. 3. I'm not an egotistical moron

how 'bout selling the cav to get the 240 and not worry about a loan? or give the guy the money + the cavy?

Well a pink cav is pretty much as bad as it gets. Though I suppose a pink K-car might be worse. Did you ask your father what his first car was? I'm sure whatever it was probably had more power than the 240sx you're suggesting.

My dad's not the problem, he's all for it, but I don't live with him, and most of the time, me and him don't get along too well, so he doesn't have much say-so on what goes on at my mom's house.

It's my mom that's really the problem. And my step-dad, seems to not care either way.

They won't let me trade/sell the Cav(sentimental value:confused: )

But I guess it's kind of a moot point now, as I went back for another test drive and the 240 was gone. So for now, sadly, I'm back to saving more money and *****ing

just as a voice of moderate reason, test drive the 240, but do it in the rain. Just try it. My car's got 500 dollars in tires, as well as new suspension and brakes, it still scares the bjeebus out of me in the rain....try to stop hard in the rain..(not as important if you have abs..but i dont)...and no, i'm not some old fart, i'm 20 years old and i drive way too fast most of the time...

are you serious? For a rwd car, the 240 drives amazing in the rain.

Yep yep, I found your rain problem right here! Of course, I have the exact same problem, but they say the first step to finding a cure is admitting you have a problem ;)

i have a better idea. Sell the cav to a chop shop and collect like $500 for it (yeah right). Then report it stolen. Just watch your back.

If you want great wet grip, go with an all-season tire. Performance tires aren't generally very good in the rain. Some are better than others, but the higher the dry performance, it tends to be worse in the rain.

ha ha I pay only 60 bucks a month on my car but as you can see its not a 240sx. good luck getting your car. Your problem is getting the money for your car my problem with my parents is where to put the car. They keep telling me why do you need 2 cars when you can only drive one at a time. We will have 5 cars if I get the 240 and only have space for 4.

Sadly, they are all-season tires, not racing tires...actually i think i spent around 350 dollars for them...And i havent driven any other rwd cars in the rain, i just know compared to something fwd it's pretty scary in the city....Not really a problem on the highways, just at stoplights and the like...There have been times that i had to let the clutch out with my foot off the gas to actually get grip...

I'd admit that driving a RWD car in the rain can be a scary experience. But when you get the hang of it and can predict how your car will respond under any given condition (rain, ice, dirt, rocks, etc.) you'll find that driving in inclimate weather and/or road conditions on performace tires can be darkly satisfying. :yesnod

Don't tell your parents that.

try coming from driving an AWD DSM to an S14.... it's been a real eye opener  I kinda miss just being able to hammer down on it and not have to worry about grip... that is, when it ran :D
