Ok I know this an HKS Boost controller/Electronic Valve Controller but I can't find any information on it what so ever. Is it worth using or should I purchase a new one? Where can I find a manual for it? The part number is VIII 17481
I showed it to a guy I was hoping would install it and tune my car and he said it was crap...

Looks to me like it's an HKS EVC IV. It may be an older version of it. Here is a link to a picture of an HKS EVC IV. ( you may have to paste it to a browser)...

And here is a link to the installation manual for it... http://www.hksusa.com/info/download.asp?id=1643

And finally, the setup manual... http://www.hksusa.com/info/download.asp?id=1644

Personally, I would use it. EBC's ain't cheap and HKS makes decent stuff. It also has "scramble boost" LOL straight out of F&F. I think that's a hoot! But, in reality, having a 3rd boost setting allows for some extra setup. I have high and low, but I would like and "extra high" for when the air temps are cold. Install it and see how it performs. If you need additional cabling, I am sure you can either contact HKS or look on Ebay.

Good luck

Ive spent allll day calling HKS certified dealers across the US and even called HKS USA HQ in Calif. and could not get any answers or help. HKS HQ didnt even answer their phone! And ok if I have an older version of that EVC IV wont I need the manuals for the older version?? Also what psi do you run on average? What kind of RWHP are you getting?

HKS has all of their older manuals online on their site. Stock boost is 9psi, anymore and you need an upgraded ecu, then you can push about 14psi on the stock turbos.

I think the manual links I posted will work for your setup. It's pretty simple, if the configuration is the same, it will work. The manuals I posted are for the EVC IV so they should be fine.

Robomatic12 is correct with his statements. I will only add that to go above 15 psi, you need more than just better turbos. You hit the duty cycle limit of the injectors, the stock intercoolers give out shortly after as well.

JWT sells boost jets for their ECU's. It allows the stock motor to boost right at 13.5psi. That is a safe boost without supporting mods.

I can boost 19psi on pump gas, but the mods I have will support higher. It costs a lot of cash to get higher than 14 or 15psi. Here is a link to my conversion thread and the mods I have to my motor. It is a beast, but it wasn't cheap to do...

The only mod I forgot to list in that thread was dual intakes.

Im currently running a full turbo back Stillen exhaust and dual Stillen intercoolers. I never planned on going over 14 psi without a set of 555cc injectors. I have heard with injectors you can run up to ~16psi on stock turbos..?? My most important question...do I have to buy an aftermarket ECU or can I take my car to a dyno/tuner and get my stock board tuned?

Either one, obviously gettign a custom tune is going to be better but more $$$. It also depends if the tuner can write his own eprom chips to install in your socketed ecu or needs a tuning software like nistune installed on a daughter board on your ecu.

Ok well if anyone is interested this EVC is for sale or will trade for an AEM gauge style boost controller. I want to go simplistic with this.
