Help- what is this on Qx56

Hi everyone,

im driving family home from Vegas right now and have a weird buzzing coming from kick panel located under steering wheel and above pedals.
I have removed kick board.
On left there are 5 buttons-
Lift gate
Open close back side windows
Headlight level
Pedal height
Reverse chime

On the other side of kick board there is a little black box that's connected to wires.
Buzzing its head off.
Can someone tell me what this is? I have disconnected it but don't wat to drive if it's potentially dangerous.
Please help if you can!

Not sure, but I think it is an "In-Vehicle Sensor" for the automatic air-conditioning system.

I believe it has an integrated fan to bring in a bit of air from the passenger compartment to measure its temperature. Possibly the fan is failing (louder than usual) and the sensor unit needs to be replaced? Is your air-conditioning system working normally?

This is a SWAG, of course.
