this car is driving me nuts.its been running really crappy lately and its getting worse!!! I took apart the maf and iacv and cleaned em and it was running perfectly fortwo weeks. Now i dont even know if i am going to mqke it to work. Its shooting codes for the knock sensor and the intake air temp sensor but i got a chip on it so i dont know what i should do. Should i just put the old air temp sensor back on and get the knock sensor replaced? I didnt think the knock sensor would have a dramatic affect on it but who knows. The damn mechanics wont even look at my car cuz of the aftermarket i put into it. Someone help me!!!!

dwhat kind of a chip are you running? is it soldered in the computer or the one from ebay? the knock sesnor is very important, if the computer thinks that you have a knock problem it might put your car in safe mode = no power. if it's the ebay chip...throw it away or try to get yourmoney back.

try the EGR solenoid and fuel injectors. unfortunately the Dealer can truly find your problem if nothing else works.

what aftermarket stuff are we talking? and ya, if its an e-bay instantly add 20+ HP chip then just throw it out. I have only ever seen it mess up cars and do nothing to improve them.

From what I know about these chips is that they are supposed to advance your cars firing sequence and this in turn improves your HP. The knock sensor times the sequence so your engine is running smoothly ,not knocking, so when something else is trying to time it it's probably going to chuck out a code. The chips are also supposed to make your car think that the air intake temp is lower than it really is.. I think making the car change the air/fuel mixture somehow again "Improving HP Dramaticaly" . So if its messing with both these things than just take it out!!

well i know for sure that its an electrical air/fuel ratio problem just by the way it idles and smells when I start it. KS and IAT come up on the codes everytime. I'm replacing both of them today myself. Any hints or tips from any of you who changed a knock sensor before? Any cheat methods?

so i just finished with knock sensor replacement and the intake air temp sensor adjustment. And by that i mean that i took the worthless chip out and adjusted the old sensor in a prime spot in my k&n filter. No prob. The ks was a little trickier but no where near as bad as i expected. In all honesty yhe hardest part was getting the u joint swivel socket out of the plastic holder thing in the set. It broke off inside the socket and i swear to got after 25 min and finally a dremel i got it out. Pretty embarassing. I can bench 245 plus and preacher curl the 90s but i couldnt break a plastic chunk out of a swivel socket!!!total cost185 dollarsand my dignityby the way the car runs good now... But who knows what else that max has in store for me

it runs smoother for sure but like I said I only ran it for 15 minutes in traffic stop and go style. Maybe a little extra gas when I had the chance. I was more looking to trip the sensor by putting the a/c on and off while idling and driving etc. Little stuff like that used to trip the sensor and it would act up. It didn't tho. Uh... The knock sensor total work time was like 20 minutes or less. I was really surprised since everyone says it is one of the hardest. I used a u joint swivel socket 12 mm socket and a 9 and a 4 inch extension put together. Oh, and a three eighths to quarter inch adapter so i could use the big wrench for more torque. It was fairly simple with the right tools.
