Have some one turn the key to the on position while you simaltainously slap the bottm of the fuel tank or use a rubber malet to hit it. If the pump then comes on you have an open circuit in you fuel pump. You will need to replace it if so. If that does nothing you could still have a bad pump but volt meter tests will need to be done at the fuel pump feed connector at the tank.

check to see if you have power at the fuel pump connector in the back. Also check for ground. If you have both its probably the pump. They are quite easy to replace. Goodluck

I dont think the fuel pump is bad because I just put this one its used so I suppose it is possible but I think its more likely its an electrical issue with the way my cars been acting. how can I see if the fuel pump connector is getting power? and how can I check the grounds? if I have to use a multimeter where am I sticking the prongs to get the reading?

OK. get a voltmeter and put it on dc volts. turn the ignition to on or run. Go to the back and disconnect the fuel pump connector. It on the passengers side in the hatch inderneith a cover. You cant miss is. Put the red lead on the white wire with purple strip. Put the black lead on any non painted ground. Should be battey power.

Im prettyh sure its the white/ppl but make sure with a FSM wiring diagram otherwise I can check at work tomorrow

if you are doing this alone you may get a false reading. turning th key on only runs the pump a few seconds. you will need to get a friend to crank the engine wihile you test for power.
