Well my 96 q45 is at it again. Like clock work most of the bulbs in the cabin have gone out within the last 2 weeks. I called the dealer and they said I cant buy the bulbs seperately. I've tried to searching but all I've come up with is led's. Led's arent a bad idea except for the fact that I'm not positively sure on which ones to buy or which resistor I need. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Heres a picture of the bulbs I'm talking about

I couldn't believe it either when the stealership told me they don't stock replacement bulbs for most of their components. The couple that they do sell (trip odometer) were over $5/ea.

I found these at Radio Shack and they work fine. They are 12 volt lights, not LED's. $1.29 a pair. Remove the old bulb paying attention to how the wire legs wrap around the holder, install the new bulb the same way and clip off the excess. The blue "balloon" over the tip can be removed (roll it back like a condom) and put on the new bulb. Sometimes they can be tricky to set in the right position for proper contact and I got tired of turning the lights on and off to make adjustments so I made a plastic screwdriver (shown in pic) to adjust the bulb with the lights on.

I went to the stealership to get replacement bulbs for the seat controls and the cruise control (CC) switch. You have to buy the whole assemblies to get the $5 bulb. I was stupid enough to buy the $50 CC switch and then took the time to locate these at Radio Shack. The only bulb available from the stealership was the pair for the trip odometer.

Those lamps are called neo wedge lamps designed by Stanley. Stanley sold millions of those lamps and are installed in dash boards in Ford, GM and Chrysler. The blue cap is actually a phosphorized filter. You can get different color filter caps. Stanley are still selling it but it's hard to find a distributor that sells it because they require 100 pieces minimum buy. Osram/Philips/Sylvania used to sell it too.

I know Joe used to sell them all... but with Nissan's new "improved" parts system - maybe they don't anymore...
