Hey, thanks for those diagrams. What you have shown me, is exactly what is on my car.

Still, as far as a solution goes, it looks as though I will nead a new header?

Well, thats what I did. But I would suggest actually getting a NICE header as opposed to my craptastic Pacesetter...

Make sure that if you get a header, that the catalytic converter end is 2.5 inch. Also, getting a header may require you to remove the AIV (PAIRC valve, OEM talk for the black box to the driver's side of your motor) and/or the EGR valve depending on which one you get.

That is what I will do then. Now the only thing that bothers me about that, is that my friend bought the same set up I did, and a new header...and truthfully? The header made it sound like sh*t. It sounded alright until he throttled it....it was high-pitched and just sounded like total crap. I don't know what the deal was....that was the only BRM footage that sounded like total shize.

Now to do header research I suppose.....

Thanks for the help everyone.

im lost. sohc or dohc the welded assembly from the cat back is the same no matter which engine unless you have a modified exhaust that has relocated the cat. previously.

ok, ive figured it all out, if its the car in your sig... ...then you dont have a ka at all, you have a big a$$ blown v8 in a very small honda, and in that case, i dont think the BRM exaust will directly bolt-on to those zoomies...

lol

Yeah..it's completely different. The SOHC has two pipes and three bolts.....and the piping itself is too small for me to bolt any of the BRM or cat up to it. It's like trying to bolt on a 2.5" pipe to a 1 1/8th" pipe....not gonna happen.

sounds like you need to make a trip to the junkyard to get the parts you need. you messed up somewhere, it should go upper manifold, lower manifold, catalytic converter, then the exhaust pipes to the muffler and tips.

Get us a pic.... of you and the exhaust. The brm exhaust bolts up to your cat. I have it installed on my stock convertibleFactory exhaust system goe 1 piece header bolted to engine.... then 1 piece downpipe whihc connects to the CAT.... Then the CAT... The your exhaust system all the way to the muffler. BRM is a 2 part from the CAT back to the muffler. The downpipe piece that bolt inbetween the CAT and the exhaust manifold(header) needs to be installed again, no need to of removed it.Aftermarket headers are usually one piece no requiring the downpipe. My exhaust system consist of 1 piece header, CAT, BRM exhaust which is 2 piece

Nikki.... regardless of what headers/downpipe you are running, they are supposed to ALL end up in the same place, and bolt up the a catalytic converter then the rest of the exhaust piping (thus the "cat-back exhaust" reference). With your current setup you should still be capable of bolting up the BRM to your system, because it would normally bolt up to the cat or test pipe, not the header/downpipe.

something like ?

I'm sorry to double post.... but I just noticed something:
nikki wrote:I am assuming that the pipe with the resonator bolts to the engine, seeing as it's the only one that is shaped correctly. The the cat bolts to the end of that, then of course, the muffler end.
no no no no no

sorry to steal your pic wdracing but it is a good example.

you leave this portion stock, then you take the pipe with the resonator and that bolts to the end of the cat, then the pipe with the muffler bolts on the end of the pipe with the resonator.

you made it sound like you are mistakenly trying to use half of the brm exhaust as the downpipe itself lmao

It doesn't matter how many times we explain this guys. The whole thing has a difficulty factor of 1. Lets see...couple of bolts, couple of hangers...hmmm ...done.

you talking bout this banana man?

But seriously how hard is it to understand the the exhaust does not bolt up to anything but the catalytic converter, and dont say that it cant nikki, cause as long as the flanges are the same it will work.. My 3 inch piping apexi exhaust bolted right up to my stock piping and flanges....

Edit: Just save your time and take it to a place and pay 50 bucks... thell forgive you for not doing it yourself, cause your a girl. (seriously prepared to get B1tched at)

Wow, I left this thread after I found out that I had a SOHC header on my de. In other words, LEARN TO READ idiots instead of assuming that being female somehow hinders my mechanical ability.

So if you want nikki i can come by there when i get and help you with the exhaust.

I dont understand why people pay 400-600 dollars for an exhaust anyways. Buy a magnaflow cat, resonator, and muffler pay an exhaust shop 70$-100 to run 2.5 pipe easy and done.

NIKKI = FAIL

Wow, first of all you posted to a 2 year old thread, I doubt these people even remember posting.

Second, "Wow, I left this thread after I found out that I had a SOHC header on my de." Didn't have the decency to thank the people who's tried to help you or even let them know the problem was resolved.

Third, "LEARN TO READ idiots instead of assuming that being female somehow hinders my mechanical ability."

Were they wrong to think that? You bought a car and didn't notice the header was odd? bet you didn't even pop the hood maybe you got the car because you wanted to be like the BF? maybe you jumped in at bandwagon time? all i know is a GUY would've known what to look for when buying the car and also made a thread because you couldn't find out yourself how to put in an exhaust system even with an instruction manual and that you had the wrong header AND couldn't explain what exactly you were trying to bolt it to and didnt even post pics, might as well of started explaining everything with "I can't connect the muffler thingy to the part on the car thingy and I think I chipped my nail."

So don't come in with your snotty emo attitude 2 years later.

Yes because you're a female DOES mean you're not mecahically incline.Hence the stupid thread you started and revived 2 YEARS LATER.

B1tch all you want at me, I know im a pig headed guy.

End Rant.Seacrest out b1tches!

So, we're the idiots?

If my wife can comprehend how to install a complete exhaust system, so can you.

Two years later? Wow.
