My friend has a 2001 with 108,000mi. 3.5.

I think it has a remote start.

The battery dies almost immediately after the vehicle is turned off. I jumped it, took a Volt reading while its running...14+volts. Seems the alternator is working fine. The battery seems good too. I ran the Q for 30min and turned it off. 10 minutes later it won't start. The battery volts decline according to the meter. Seems as though there is something draining it at a RAPID pace. Any ideas?

Also the motor is running terrible.I seafoamed it through the brake booster and took it for a spin. It still stumbles. It mainly does it at higher rpms and it idles fine. It feels like it is choking.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

hmm. sounds like either a bad battery or like something is draining it rapidly. When u turn the car off, it is normal to slowly drop to 12v but anything below 12v is suspect.

I can't believe no one can offer any input on this issue. I am pretty disappointed with this vehicle (this is coming from a Jeep owner). It has had many sensors replaced within the past 500 miles (over $1000). It still runs like crap. The CD player is shot, it wont eject. Where is the fuse for the radio? I seafoamed it through the brake booster vac line. It made no difference. I am not sure if it had a tune up or not. So it is possible that could be the problem. It idles fine.

I just want to know some common issues with this 3.5. Also, what could be draining the battery so fast?

Sorry for the rant but this seems like a pretty active forum, I expected a few more responses.

i think this post only got one reply because most ppl in this forum, myself included, would say exactly what fueler already said about the battery. take it in and have it tested first, the battery itself is more suspect to causing an issue that something draining it at that high of a speed, unless theres tons of stuff plugged into the 12v aux jacks. unfortunately the faulty sensors are an all too common issue with the 3.5. as far as the rough engine, could be because the battery isnt holding enough juice to give a good spark, among other things. start by getting the battery tested at a parts store and replaced if it proves to be bad. then see if the rough idle is still there. as far as common issues, heres a link that pretty much sums up the pathfinder/qx4

I will do so and post back with results.
