just wanted to say hi. im new to this forum and am hoping to find good info/comments/suggestions. etc in the future. coming from previously owning 3 dsms:D  im a little new to the 240. my family(uncles included) however is rich in nissan history, having a murano, a rebuilt 510, '78-ish Z, 350z, '90 300zx, and '04 maxima, you could say my family likes nissans. i fully regret owning all my dsms and have appreciated the ruggedness and fun factor of my 240. so hello everybody.

If there's one good saying about DSM's it's:

"DSM: making mechanics out of ordinary people since 1989"

:D

thanks for all the comments.

there is nothing quite like the first time you beat a 360 modena by at least 2 cars in a 424 hp 1g gst though:D . the main thing i like about the 240 so far, besides that ive wanted one for almost 5 years now, is that i dont have to worry about it starting everyday. hopefully ill learn more about the car and everything about the great world of Nissan!!!

Welcome KWDrifter! Glad I'm not the only one still learning about Nissans. :) Everyone here is very friendly and helpful, so if you have questions feel free to ask.

You might want to watch out for Mr1der though, he is a sick little puppy!

Yup, I kinda like/want one. I would only get a 97 and up GS-T or GSX though. The earlier ones have too much problems for me.

I agree. The only reason I said the 97+ is b/c its newer and I like the styling a lot more.

I wouldn't say under rated. Maybe they got a bad rap but in no way are they under rated. I would love a GSX as an autocross car. First gen with the flip ups all the way. :D

After actually owning a mitsubishi, I would gladly say that I will never own another.

well my previous cars were a '95 TSi awd, '90 GSX, '93 GSt (monster), and a '99 gsx w/ jdm motor. they were in all forms of tuning ranging from stock to 400+ hp, and i stand proud and say that i will NEVER own another again, no matter what it is.

ok the second gens have their ups and downs. they have a better flowing head and ex. mani. they also have betterin i/c elbow and better internals (for performance purposes). but they also have a t25 so that defeats the purpose of the better things.

the 1st gens have the 14b, which while not being great in any sense, IS better than the t25. i drove my '90 gsx on a ported 14b at 16 psi and it was fine. personally i think thats damn good.

the turbos on either are not great, the best combo imo and *relative cheapness, would be find a 6 bolt 1g block and use 2g internals with regular 16g turbo. that was pretty reliable and very fast in my TSi. ok sorry this is a nissan site, im done now.
