There are plenty of people in Washington to have a meet. Hell, I think they have all posted in this thread already. The KY meets started with about five cars and have evolved quickly into quite the meet scene. Check out the threads and you'll see what I mean.

Again, welcome!

Hi!

I'm thinking that what you're thinking about getting a 240SX is a good idea. The S14's are nice, and even more so with some larger wheels and suspension tuning. Have fun with the boards, and be sure to post pics, pics and more pics.

Wow, you used to be a rotary gearhead? it sound like there's a story there... so what happened? what do you mean you were owned hardcore once?

I know quite a bit about rotary, but once posted something slightly inaccurate(no of parts in a conventional engine) or something, and someone tore into me. It was an ego blow, and I decided to stop schooling people when they say stupid **** about rotary engines.

Subaru into rally car. I would, but I need another car to drive before I could seriously hurt the subby, and my moms finally selling her 99 beetle(pos) and needs a car to drive til she figures out what she wants to replace it with. :)

hey, so I'm looking for a good rwd car, and the 240 and the older fc3s are looking good. only thing I don't like about the 240 is that it takes a grip of money to do a swap. (I'm not a mechanic, and not tryin' to be one) on the other hand, the fc looks good also, and apparently not a lot breaks on it, but when something does happen, it's to the extreme (whole new motor) how much does this happen, and should I stay away from them because of it? is it worth the chance?

hehe, you said grip, I've heard about that word but never heard anyone actually say it:)

Anyway, the Rotary engines are pretty hit and miss liek you said. I have a friend who has an early 80s rx-7 and he got the motor rebuilt somewhere around 160-200k miles and it still runs, but its definately showing its age. RX-7 will probably give you a quicker car for the same price, but there's always that risk of losing it all. Then again, it could work just fine if you treat it right.

When a rotay engine "blows", 9 times out of 10 its just the Apex seals. Those can be replaced with ceramic ones for little more than $300 plus labor.

Rotary needs routine maintinence (oil, etc) generally twice as often as a conventional engine, but also is twice as cool as a conventional engine. :p

If you do decide to go rx-7, I'd suggest an 87(2nd gen) turbo 2. They haul *** stock, and have gobs of power for such a light car. You can also pick one up for about 3 grand.

Is there any difference in models between 87 RX-7s and the other year the second gen rex was made, or were you just specifying that as the first year of the model to buy?

that was the first year the turbo 2 was out. I'm not 100% sure why the 87, but my ex boyfriend had done many hours of research on the 2nd generation rx-7 and had a very good reason as to why it should be that year. I dont remember why though.

I'd LOVE to have a rex, but they are rediculously priced in my area, but they are rarer than 240's even. Unfortunatly the 240 population is increasing in my area. I don't like it one bit...

I'd love to have a rex, except when I asked my insurance lady for a quote, she laughed in my face. :(
