I Love Corvettes, I hate the Cavalier like interiors, especially tan ones :barf:

The fit, finish and NVH have come a long way on the newest generation of the corvette.

Cool car, it fits your old man image very well. Better keep a hat on that chrome dome of yours

C5 hasn't been available new for 6 years.
f***, C6 been out for 6 years already?
AZhitman wrote:BTW, first tank of gas averaged 25 mpg. 50mph in 6th gear = 1k rpm.
Yeah they really did a good job with all that. The gearing is worked out pretty damn well, both to put out impressive 0-60 times for magazines and to get good mileage cruising on the freeway.

Does the C5 use coil springs in the rear?

Nope. Transverse leaf.

Interior is typical GM. But it's a lot nicer than the C4... Probably won't wear well, but then again, it's barely broken-in.

First order of business is to ditch these damn run-flats and get some proper sticky rubber on it. :)

You know that it's going to start with changing out the tires, then the wheels, next thing you know you'll have a straight thru exhaust, a more aggressive cam and timing setup and once you realize that the S13 vert keeps kicking your a** you'll want to put a blower on it. The modifying bug never stops once you're bit you can't stop, hell I bet you'd modying the family minivan if you could.

Most vette owners I know upgrade the brakes first. Doesn't take much too crack the rotors, especially on Z06's.

I say welcome to the fraternity of multicar owners whose fleet includes one GM vehicle... ;)

So what you're saying is that we should wait for pictures of his newly aquired Stoptech or Baer Brakes Big Brake Kit?

Nah, I don't forsee Greg tracking it because its a 'vert.

A friend of mine just bought a used stock Z06, same vintage, and brought it to VIR the first time a few weeks ago. Took him all of two sessions to crack a front rotor. Fortunately someone in the paddock had an extra one.

The transverse leaf is pure genius. I love it, one of my favorite things about my Cadillac Seville.

LOL, tires are considerably more expensive on vettes than on 240sx's. I still don;t see him tracking that car. I could be wrong.

Hey is there video footage of Greg's S13 vert? I'd love to actually see and hear it run up and down a street or track.

Au contraire, mon frere.

My tires on the vert are bigger. :)

(Actually, tho, you're right. I don't think I've ever bought NEW tires for the vert. The Vette will get new ones).

That's the magic of the V8.
It can make use of that kind of gearing...no V6 or I4 could pull off ~1k rpm cruise. Even the torquey VQ sits well above 2000 at highway speed.

The torque really makes each gear useful. I can leave a stoplight in 4th. The G would have bucked me out through the sunroof. :)

Rolling into the throttle at 40mph in 4th is simply awesome. All other details aside, the powerplant is really why you buy this car.
