And it's getting cold out! It doesn't matter how warmed up the car is, even if I'm running it hard on a 90 deg. day, it never blows hot or warm air. It doesn't matter what I do with the hot/cold switch, it's always somewhat cold air blowing. And only the #4 level works, or full blast airflow....which seems wierd; 1-3 are all always off.

I have a 95 with a redtop in it, and I don't know where to start. But it's cold, and I want some warm air! Please let me know where to start looking and checking, I can take pics of stuff if need be. Thanks alot!

You may have messed up your heater core hoses when you did the swap, if they are looped you get no heat, you can also check the petcock that allows coolant to flow into the heater core, if it doesnt open, you get no heat, both are easy to fix, just hope you dont have a plugged heater core, because if you do, you may have to pull the dash.

by the sounds of it, you didnt do the swap yourself. whoever did it probably just didnt hook up the heater core hoses, they probably just recirculated it. check at the back of the sr for hoses going into your firewall. its not a hard fix if this is the case.

Don't forget that the 95 has that awkward valve on the engine bay heater hose. Make sure that's functioning fine and the cable isn't stretched.

Also, since you're having blower speed issues, I would look into seeing if the HVAC unit failed or was damaged recently. It may be as simple as putting a new unit in.

And cold in Arizona? It's still what...like 90 out there consistently? That's not cold

Cool, thanks for the good info guys. Yeah, I bought already swapped, it the heater never worked from the get go. I'll check the heater hoses and probably snap a pic to see if they're hooked up properly.

I do remember seeing that wierd valve there once though. I was going to pull that hvac controller out and see if everything looks good. Is there anyway I can check with a voltmeter to see if it's functioning correctly? I thought I heard somewhere that there's a resistor or something that likes to go bad.

And I live in Prescott, at a mile high, it's already frozen a couple of nights. Still 70's in the day, but 30's in the morning is fairly cold! Not as cold as my hometown in Idaho though!

Okay, so I finally got around to pulling stuff and taking pictures. Just to recap, my heater doesn't work at all, it's always cold air blowing. And only level '4' works; off, 1, 2, and 3 are all off when you move the level through them. And me rear window defrost doesn't work, but that's a whole different switch I think.

Here's my heater hoses that go to the firewall. They look hooked up right, but I don't really know what's right and wrong here. The bottom one goes tot he bottom on the engine. The top one looks a little kinked, and goes to the drivers side somewhere, and has that weird valve on it. Does this look correct?

Here's the wierd valve, it has a cable that goes somewhere under the dash. I can move it back and forth with my hand somewhat (the cable and the little valve) How do I check for proper operation here? Does it look right?

And finally, here's the back of the hvac when I pulled it out. Anything look wrong here?

Please help me out guys, I need a working heater badly. Let me know what needs replaced or fixed asap! Thanks!

So I think I figured out the problem, and it's that valve in the 2nd pic under the hood. I manually pull the cable all the way out or open I'm assuming, and I'll get heat inside. And if I move the switch to cold, it'll blow cold air.....but when I try to move it back to hot, it doesn't work. I have to manually pull that cable out to get hot air, which is a pain.

Does my valve, cable assembly look like it's installed correctly? Or is it kinked too much? Someone with the S14 valve needs to pitch in here, let me know how your valve looks. Also, where could I find a new valve like this? Help please!

Anyone know how to make all 4 levels work for the air (lowest to highest)? Only 4 works on mine.

I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it (a long time ago)! I think I just messed with those 2 hoses by the firewall at the back of the engine. That little valve thingy with the spring is what I messed with, and it's worked great since then!

The level 3 only working thing was just the heater resistor that was blown. Replaced it and all levels work now.
