Second oil change, so it was time to rotate the tires, too. Since the tires were off, it's a good time to upgrade the headlamp bulbs (to Silverstar Ultras), since the fender liners have to be pulled for that. Toughest bulbs I've ever done - and that includes a SAAB, Land Rover and a Jaguar...

Here's the fourth headlight bolt:

It took me most of the day including the oil change and tire/wheel cleaning. I was also a good time to brush the bugs out of the AC radiator.See post title - I hope these bulbs last!!

Many folks have been able to change the headlight bulbs without pulling anything. It is tight, but it can be done.

I found it quite easy, without removing anything, changed the bulbs tuesday morning before work, about 15 minutes, including cleaning up....

I've had silverstars in my 2000 Mustang for over 2 years now. I sold it to my mother and they still are bright. Did you get fingerprints on the bulb maybe? The oils in your skin will cause a hotspot and possibly break the bulb.

Ditto - I did the same. I am a big guy and I had no problem swapping out bulbs. Easy once you figure out how the clip that holds the bulb in place works. Took no more than 20 - 30 minutes.

Most silverstars that do only last six months are subject to carelessness; many people touch the bulb with bare hands, probabaly by accident, and the oils from you skin cause premature failure. Wear gloves and you delete this possibility. If you do touch the bulb, it must be cleaned with alcohol. I've had silverstars last me over two years. I'm not sure how much longer they would have lasted because I got rid of the car they were in before they blew.

I replaced mine for the ultra's this weekend aslo.. It sucked. Didn't have to remove anything but the plastic sealer was a pain in the *** to put back on.. I ended up putting the stopper over the plug then plugged it on to the bulb.. Don't feel like doing that again... Hopefully it's sealed, did as well as I could honestly..

Unbelievable. You pulled the entire headlight to change the bulb? At the very most you MAY have to move the battery but even that is questionable. Pull off the rubber boot and wiring harness, squeeze the clips and out comes the bulb. It took me 10 min to do both sides. Bulbs on the Versa were no harder to change than the ones on my dau's Wave, my wife's Vibe or my mother-in-law's Camry.
