it depends. If i were you i would check what the oil looks like. if there is coolant mixed with the oil headgasket is bad. If there is no coolant in the oil then its possible your water pump fins rusted away. I would recommend replaceing the pump and flushing coolant system out. dont wait to long or you will have more problems. good luck let me know how it turns out.

well the water pump is brand new so I doubt that its rusted. Also today I opened the thermostat housing and I found a random 12mm bolt just stuck on there so I though hmm there's my problem but I changed the thermostat anyway but nope nothing. Car still overheats, I bleeded the system a couple times so I don't know whats wrong. This is so frustrating LOL

Sludge in the radiator is almost always caused by petroleum mixing with antifreeze. Either you headgasket is blown and oil is passing into the cooling system, or one of your transmission cooler lines inside the radiator has failed. If you have a manual transmission, then you do not have a cooler, so the sludge is most likely caused by the headgasket. Does the car produce any white smoke? Overheating is often a sign of a bad head gasket.

thats gata be a head gasket. if the pump is new and your coolant is brown and milky its got some sort of oil and air in it. 90% sure its the head gasket.
