Okay, Dee's building my engine (hehe), and I need to come up with a metal headgasket. The only one I have been able to find is the HKS one. I think that looks fine, but I'm not sure about the dealer, and I like to have options. Anyway, post links of places to get metal CA18DET headgaskets please. I know people have got to be runnign non-stock headgaskets.

I still have my copper one! These can get made if there was a decent demand for them here in the states. I think a copper gasket on the CA would be awesome. My bodyman who also has a 1500whp monster nova, begs me to use the copper over the steel. He says especially because of the amount of boost I plan on running, he'll even prep it for me. But if you guys were interested, I can make a few calls for the copper gaskets and i'm 110% sure we won't have a problem acquiring these.

bada$$ what else is needed for a copper gasket (o-ring the block or something?) or is it just throw it on, and go? That would be sweet! what does pricing on that run?

Well, the place I was going to order the Head Gasket from doesn't offer them anymore, so r34 gtr, where did you find one? I'm curious.

The headgaskets wil be arond the low $100s, but I will confirm tomorrow. You can use them in plain fashion, but in highboost applications get the head and block o-ringed and you can run all the boost you want. I will find out tomorrow for sure.

Here's some interesting HG info...

http://www.dupont-dow.com/Applications/ ... e/head.asp

So are the DE (pulsar) and DET headgaskets interchangeable? I seem to remember a place that builds hi-po gaskets for all sorts of race applications.. Comatech? I forget.. I'll have to dig around.

Basically just trying to figure out if there is a more readily available alternative to waitng on a Tomei piece, etc... Tomei is nice and all.. but sucks if you pop a gasket and have to wait 3-6 weeks to get your car back on the road..

there is also a couple distributprs and an official dealer for Power Enterprise, they make CA18 head gaskets too, also you could check Apex-performance.co.uk they have HKS CA18 headgaskets instock, as well as other UK CA parts distributors like NOrris Designs and others...

you could also get it from Takakaira.co.jp they deliver very fast and check for avaiability before you order,

also as NISMO is sold in the US now, i am sure you can get someone who works at a nissan parts ddealership to orderr a few if push comes to shove and you could re-sell them.

Alrighty guys, I got the scoop on the copper gaskets and other goodies. Complete piston sets with racing rings come up to about $515, lightweight flywheels $500 for street version = 8lbs and $570 race version = 5lbs. The copper gaskets we discussed costs $190 and there is no discount or group buy available from this company. I didn't realize I was sitting on such a gold mine with my copper gasket. I practically tried to give it to Sean for a crack-head price;) . Thank god he didn't need it then............

And how much improvement will a flywheel help? I would think it would make autocrossing easy as hell becaseu you can heel toe and get your revs matched faster and it would release some power held back by the weight

my friend got a jun 8lb flywheel for his prelude and its light as hell compared to the stock one. id definately suggest one if you can afford it, frees up power and all kinds of stuff. the car just feels so much different.

Yes, the flywheels are different between the RWD and FWD, but the AWD is the same as the RWD (I don't use the AWD flywheel). Both types are made from 6065-T651 aircraft aluminum, which is stronger than the cast steel that stock flywheel are made from.
