It's still division 1A football even if they're in a weaker division. The pro leagues are no different. IMHO you have to give Hawaii props for beating every team on their schedule.JimmyMethod wrote:I would be impressed if they make it to a BCS bowl. They haven't played ANYone. They have a weaker schedule than Boise State did.
And Boise State didn't 'put a spanking on' OK.
When you are playing in the WAC, you're playing against high school teams.
The only ranked team they played was Boise State, and the only ranked team Boise State played was Hawaii
Sure you can say it, they're WAC champs who ran the table during the regular season. Anything after that is gravy. They absolutely deserve a bowl bid.JimmyMethod wrote:Can't say until after the championships, but I'm still going to guess no.
1.) lol at you trying to insult me2.) The WAC isn't a BCS conf. for a reason.3.) Any football team can beat any other football team. No matter how good a team is there's probably a 1/20 chance it will lose to any other team. I'm not saying they'll lose if they DO play in a BCS bowl, I'm just saying no one knows how good they are.We pretty much have NO gauge as to how good the Warriors are. They haven't played anyone.generic808 wrote:Yes, their schedule was pretty soft with the exception of BSU and WU, but BSU isn't a bad team at all. Last year they beat then #7 ranked Oklahoma in the Fiesta, and you're saying they're a "high school" team?! Uhmm...Okay, if you say so. Like Bubba1 said, they're still a 1A team and so are their opponents. Any team can beat the other team on any given Saturday. Look what happened earlier this year with Michigan and Div 1AA Appalachian St.
All we can do is sit back and wait for the BCS computers and voters to determine the fate of UH. And when all is said and done, if they end up playing and winning a BCS bowl game, are you still going to consider them a "high school" team, or would you actually man up and eat your words? Hmm...that is to be seen.
Did you READ my post?generic808 wrote:And hey, if UH does make the BCS and happen to win, then I guess all of college football is a big conspiracy because there's no way a "high school" team can beat a team from one of the BIG, BAD conferences!
While I'm not a big Michigan fan, I think it's sad that Carr was pretty much ran out of town over that fact. I honestly believe that even if they had only lost the game to OSU, people would still be out for his head. He always seemed like a good, competent leader. But I rarely watch Michigan games. All I get out here is VT games. BlegJimmyMethod wrote:If you really want to rag on Michigan, bring up the 0-4 record against OSU in the past 4 years. That stings MUCH worse.
Tebow is a great college QB, and is probably a lock for the Heisman, but do you guys think he is that great? Just wondering because he seems to be a product of a system, not a pure passer. Not trying to be biased, but from a passer's standpoint, Colt is a much more poised, accurate and pure passer than Tebow is. I'm just wondering how Tebow would hold up at the next level. I know Colt, if dropped into an NFL environment, will hold his own, at least from talent, accuracy, and arm strength. But then again, like Jimmy said prior, throwing to receivers who are poorly covered as opposed to an NFL corner, is two totally different things. I just feel that Colt would mesh in better at the next level than Tebow would. Thoughts anyone?JimmyMethod wrote:Welp, it looks like we get to have our asses handed to us by Tebow. Hurrah at not playing more football before 2008, though...
Colt Brennan is def. an incredible Quarterback, and I think he'll make a great professional QB as well.. which is a lot more than I can say about Tebow.generic808 wrote:Colt Brennan is the most prolific passer ever to play Division 1-A! This season he had a 166.3 rating in passing efficiency, 4,174 yards, 38 passing touchdowns, eight rushing touchdowns, and he is personally responsible for 25.1 points per game. He is definitely a legitimate Heisman candidate this year. And I also believe he will be one of the top 3 QBs selected in the draft. He is a pure passer, not a system QB like Timmy Chang was. If you guys get the chance, watch what this kid can do in the Sugar Bowl. June Jones said Colt reminds him of a Dan Marino and Jeff George. Now that's saying something coming from June. The kid had 14,024 yards and 131 TD's in only 3 seasons and he owns over two dozen NCAA passing records!!
Jimmy, still hating I see. I think you've been drinking a little too much Haterade in your diet! Everyone has a past. All allegations of rape aside, Colt is a great QB who will be playing come Suday's. Tebow, on the other hand, may be leading a practice squad and watching from the sideline on God's day.JimmyMethod wrote:The last thing the NFL needs is more criminal Quarterbacks. Killing dogs is bad, but trying to rape girls...
I really hope the NFL steps in before the draft and declares him ineligible.
Also, his dreadlocks suck. :-p
You might want to also take note that Brennan plays an average of less than 3 quarters a game. Tyler Granke has taken over and still produces his fair share of touch downs, and yards.Eikon wrote:

BUT.. the best QB in college football right now is Graham Harrell from Texas Tech. Harrell beat Brennan in yards (5298 to 4174), completion percentage (72.7 to 71.4%), and TD's (45-38). The fact that makes his numbers even more impressive.. . He did it against a schedule of Big 12 opponents rather than WAC opponents.
I have no doubt Tebow will show up late or not at all in the draft in a year or two.I also happen to know that I don't cheer for people who are criminals, no matter how good they are at what they do.Quote »Are you still set on Hawaii not making a BCS bowl? If so, you're wrong. Sugar Bowl, here we come, baby!! [/quote]I never said they wouldn't make one, I said I'd be impressed. The fact that they barely survived the worst team in the PAC10 show's they aren't the 'strong but untested' team many people had hoped for. It showed they're the 'average and untested' team the rest of us had said.generic808 wrote:

They don't recruit in every state, they just take players from Colorado that get kicked off the team because they tried to rape a girl...palika wrote:You know you gotta give Hawaii props no matter what, on a $50,000 recruiting budget annually, and they don't go state to state to recruit (ie. mostly local talent, and ESPN) they have produced a very respectable team.
