Mike- It's not that I don't understand that engine swaps are illegal for street use. It's that I'm one of those people who has a problem. See, if someone tells me that I can't do something, my first reaction is why. Then I'm going to do it anyway, and I'm going to find a way to do it so that there's nothing you can say about it. I'm not sure whatever happened with this, but I know Motorex was working on getting a CARB exemption so that they would be able to sell street legal sr's. Now, the way I look at it, is if they figure out how to get the exemption, what's to stop someone else from doing the same?

As for me, I am uninterested in any league, club or organization in which I have to babysit a bunch of morons. I already quit the Boy Scouts. I don't get hassled by cops, because I drive normally. My car is lowered beyond the legal limit and not one cop has bugged me about it, or about my exhaust note. If you drive like a normal person, you won't get hassled. I for one think its great that people are getting pulled over for exhausts, flashing lights and the like...they are the ones causing trouble, I'm just trying to get from point A to B without some jerkoff running me off the road, hitting me, or cutting me off.

True that, over here in Connecticut I can pretty much do whatever the hell I want. There is no way the average cop will have ANY idea that I've got an SR under the hood. I mean hey! It still says NISSAN on it! heh.

Good point about keeping the profile low- but we dont get 200-300 horsepower cars just to get from point A to point B, now do we? Say you keep it all on the track, that's fine and dandy- but I bet you've felt the urge (and followed through) plenty of times on the real road. I have. I'll admit it. :( And I dont even have a 240. :( :(

SO TRUE!!!

I think the best "policing" of ourselves starts with befriending those who are reaching driving age and exemplifying good driving habits, and teaching them about cars. God knows many of them don't have a strong father figure to teach them this stuff...

AZ is pretty lenient as far as modifications go... As long as your car was inspected before the mods, no subsequent inspections are done. OR, you can buy a car already in-state, and you're good to go as well.

Besides, we're not the ones polluting the damn air. Every time a passenger jet takes off, it emits more pollution than the average commuter car does IN A YEAR!

Yes and No. : ( Depends on how big the turbo is and how much fuel you're dumping.

Yes, at least in Florida and in my state its passed emmissions, but failed visual.

What does it take to fail the visual?

Yes, Daunt is right. You have to take into consideration the state of tune. The one in Florida the kid had it stock except for an intake and exhaust. Same for the one in Jersey. It had a boost controll, but was set at 7psi of course.

im talking the bone stock engine... any modifications beyond that is not applicable for the engine being smog legal, hell people turbo honduhs but the engine is legal because it originally meets emission standards. :) I would like to see a side by side comparison of the KA and sr20det and see which one puts out more ...
