96Q with 160k

Intermittent fan belt squeaks have been diagnosed as being caused by a slightly wobbling harmonic balancer. Have not yet priced a new one from Scottsdale. Anyone ever experienced similar problem? Any specific issues I should be aware of? Thanks.

Rare, but it has happened. Might be worth checking with the last guy in this post to see if he's still around and has the name of the rebuilder he used.

Don't know if this makes a differnce but Q45Tech says the harmonic balancers on 1996 Q45's are not made the same as the ones found on 1990-1995 Q45's. He says they don't have little weights added to them to balance out the harmonic balancers. Seems werid I know.....

LOL "The Dealer" says you are right as there are two differn't versions of the balancer. One for Q45t/a cars and one for all others. But prove him wrong and take a look at yours real quick if you want....

Fastest reply I have seen in a while. Was it this slow last time Q45Tech left too?

Has nothing to do with him leaving, forum started to slow down when they changed servers/formats,or whatever they did a few years ago and the traffic slowed way down along with general age of these cars now....most of the true enthusiasts have moved on to newer things, and the new owners{newer forum members} are mostly just kids and poor people buying $100-500 old beat up relics ,hence the mostly lame posts and topics generated.Funny how fast these new owners buy the old Q,come here for a few months, and are trying to sell/junk the car soon after. If you let the retards into Harvard, sooner or later, alot of the smart ones just lose interest in the now dumbed down environment and leave.

So it's been a while since I have visited only because issues have been minor, but now I suddenly learn that Q45 tech is no longer around and there is apparent confusion about related harmonic balancer issues. These are not good signs for the premier q45 forum.

Has anyone had to replace theirs?

I have seen the slight wobble with my own eyes and assume that it is not normal. Should I be concerned that a replacement may not solve the problem?

BTW Joe's price was $253 and showed no discount from his list price.

His quote on the front Tokico Blues was $220 with a 18.5% discount. Have we also lost our 25% discount?

Thanks. Appreciate any help.

Infiniti of Scottsdale should still be discounted... the discount was never just for NICO members. They just sell at their "standard" price that independent shops would buy parts from their dealership. I looked on their site and couldn't find the pulley... how did you find it?

You might also check out www.orderinfinitiparts.com. A couple of members have good things to say about them. They're showing the MSRP at $332.16 and a price of $235.91 for the pulley.

Thanks Heath. I couldn't find anything either so I just sent a query from their web site, like #45, and Joe answered with an email.
