eat lots of greasy/breaded food before i plop into bed drunk, sleep as much as possible and lots of water in the morning.
once i did try drinking to "cure" the hangover and it did temporarily make my head stob throbbing, probably only because I was drunk again.

if I eat greasy food after a night of drinking, I'm paying for it in the morning with horrendous beer farts and beer s**t

Drinking just the Power/Gatorade is not good for you if you drank a lot of beer, but it's fine for liquor. You need the water to offset a beer hangover because of all the salt in beer to begin with.
I dunno about all the science mumbo jumbo behind it, but I find vinegary foods especially helpful in hangover situations. Salt n vinegar chips, Italian Grinders with heavy amounts of vinegar, pickles, etc. Also MASSIVE amounts of water.

I used to do that a lot when I worked in a kitchen. Could be because I was younger at the time, but I found that the restaurant had pretty much everything you'd ever need to cure a hangover. Poppin pink Lemonade mixed with cranberry juice, LOTS of ice, and water was priority #1 when arriving at work hung over. After that, eat some oyster crackers, then some corned beef hash, more poppin pink concoction, some bacon, more fluids, take a massive dump, then keep drinking til you get a little hungry again. At that point, make something on some hearty bread that has some lettuce, meats, and vinegar. At this point, switching the beverage to cola is acceptable. We also did the Pedialite thing from time to time.
oh, and Popsicles.

I've also heard that while advil/ibuprofin can help a hangover, it is EXTREMELY bad for your liver. I guess it thins your blood and ends up overworking your liver which was already stressed from the heavy drinking the night before. Dunno if its true or not, but I always tend to shy away from any sort of pill whenever another solution is available.

You are right that there's an over the counter pain killer you need to avoid mixing with alcohol, but it is acetaminophen. You may also know it by the trade name "Tylenol". Foreign readers may know it by the name "paracetamol". When combined with alcohol, it can seriously damage your liver. If you routinely drink even small amounts (like if your daily average is as low as one or two drinks) you should probably not keep it in the house at all and use one of the other over the counter drugs in that class (NSAIDs) like asprin or ibuprofen as your first line "go to" painkiller for random headaches/bruises/toothaches and whatnot.

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/rea ... ilure-plus

Bonus trivia that might save your liver: I've had several friends, including two guys, who swore by Midol for a hangover. Most of the products in the Midol line contain acetaminophen, and therefore are not a good choice for hangover therapy.

When I used to drink more, I got good results from deliberately drinking water or iced tea before I went to sleep, and leaving a glass of water on the bedside table. (And by "going to sleep", I mean "pass out".) That worked well for everything except excessive amounts of red wine.

In my younger, thirstier days I concluded that there are two main classes of bad hangover: the ones where you are afraid you are going to die ("I've done it this time! I'm sure it's alcohol poisoning!") and the ones where you are afraid that you're NOT going to die ("I can't take 10 or 12 more hours of this - take me now, Lord, take me now!").

^ Lol so true

Everytime I drink water before or after I sleep, I feel like it just scoops the alcohol and wants to come back up. Happens everytime for me, even just alittle water does it. I just have to suffer with cotton mouth and drunkeness until i can manage to drink gatorade later.

Drink several glasses of water the night before after you think you've had enough alcohol. It's not hard to avoid a hangover. Worst I've ever had is a very mild headache in the morning that fades pretty quick.

QFT...

I think a hangover cure is a 3 step process...

1. water
2. sex
3. subway

I prefer to wake up still slammed at 7am then "on the fence" at 10am personally.. I have woken up after a night of intensity thinking to myself "I deserve much worse", and also nights of very light drinking and feeling like hell all day..

I think the best thing to do with a hangover is not try and nurse it.. Just muscle through it with plenty of water, maybe a couple advil (definitely not tylenol!!!!!!!!), and do other stuff to keep your mind off it.. If you wake up next morning and are puking and cant hold things down, well then clearly you learn to drink with the menfolk.

Whenever I have morning hangover sex, I can't be on top (for bad hangovers). I've actually had to stop mid-sex before, for fear of blowing chunks all over my (then) gf.

But yeah... wake up, drink tons of water, then morning sex, then evac your body of all things impure, drink more water, and go back to bed for 2 hours with the air conditioning on.

Honestly the best cure for a hangover is not getting one. Drink better quality alcohol and don't do mixed drinks. If you're drinking tequila, drink Partida, Corzo, 1921, Gran Centenario, Oro Azul, El Charro or Porfidio. Cuervo and Patron are garbage and cuervo gold almost isn't even tequila. 51% agave 49% glucose + coloring + flavoring does not constitute a real tequila. If you want vodka drink Ciroc, Hangar 1, Kettle One, or Belvedere. Leave the tonic or 7-up for the p****** drinking shirley temples. Don't drink jack and cokes, drink Bushmills or Jameson on the rocks. When you drink better quality alcohol you don't blackout, get the spins, or puke. What you end up getting is the ultimate buzz which is 100x better.

2 of my buddies and I sat on the back of our boat a few weeks ago in Baja and put down a whole bottle of Porfidio Anejo straight up. All of us got up and surfed the next morning feeling better then ever. It sounds expensive but it's really not that bad plus you'll really learn to appreciate good alcohol. I can't tell you how many of my friends that have sworn off tequila because of one bad night with good ole curevo that were turned back onto it after trying one that you can sip. I did a tequila tasting with a couple of my whiskey drinking friends a few months ago and if anyone is interested in the story I can share, it's pretty cool. Sorry for rambling I'm a big proponent of consuming quality alcohol, it makes your evening so much better.

Also I don't think salt has anything to do with getting sick/hungover, it's all about the sugar. Give 2 people the same amount of alcohol but one is using it in mixed drinks. The mixed drinker will get much sicker and sooner.

As far as remedies go I agree with the majority and you really need to hydrate. That's why pedialyte is so awesome. A lot of people say eating food before you drink soaks up the alcohol. All that does is slow the delivery of it into your blood which is basically useless. I'm not sure about eating when you're already drunk, I'm guessing it's another myth though. In the end everyone's bodies are different and there is no one cure, a least not that I've heard of.

I dont think my brother ever got that first memo. Seriously. Just last week he went out drinking until like 6am. I saw him the next day and he said he was still drunk from the night before. He ate 2 7-11 hotdogs and yakked them an hr later lol. So the day after that I said 'what did you do last night?' He said 'got drunk as piss again last night'..

I dont know how he does it. He gets wasted, wakes up at 8am, works 10-10ish 4 days in a row in an extremely hot kitchen that can reach 130+ degrees.. gets wasted again night after night.

Kitchen folk are like none other. We sure can party till the cow come home and then turn around and do it all over again.

You can sweat out a hangover, that's how he does it. I used to go on benders until 4AM and then go to work at 9, sweat it out and drink a sh*t load of water, get home at 5, crash until 9, do it again...

All I need for a hangover is.
1. A Michelada(Is a must) = Image
2. Menudo or Spicy Mexican food.

Well it works for me, spicy food makes me sweat a lot and to finish it off the michelada.

I think it will be a little weird eating it from my anus, instead of that I'll make you some.
