Had a tune-up done, now I have a P1130 and P0335 code

I have a 2001 QX4. I had a tune-up done (Spark plugs, PCV Valve,Air Filter, Fuel Filter). Right afterwards, I got a P1130 and a P0335 codes that popped up.

P1130 Swirl Control Valve Control Solenoid Valve
P0335 CKP (Crank Shaft Position) Sensor

I also had the intake manifold gaskets replaced.

I think I may be the hoses are loose/clogged since they had to take the intake manifold off for a tune-up. It may even be a swirl control valve. Anyone have experience or recommend anything to fix these codes?

Yes, they may have left hoses off the Swirl Control Solenoid, or misconnected them with something else.
Don't know how the CKPS is related.

Just out of curiosity, why did you have all this work ("tune up") done?
Were you having other problems?

The traditional "tune up" went the way of the Do Do Bird, carburetors and leaded gas.

One of the hoses was cracked. They replaced it and cleared the codes. We will see what happens. Hopefully, everything is good!

I'm the second owner. Had the truck at 100,000 miles. Now it's at 152,000 after 3.5 years of owning it.

A fuel filter is supposed to be changed every 12,000 miles, so it was already time for it. Same with the Air filter.

Also, I never knew if the truck was tuned up or not. It sometimes took an extra crank or 2 to turn on. When idled, there was some vibration. I knew my spark plugs needed to be replaced. After replacing them and what not, the truck turns on right on, very low RPM when idling (truck doesn't vibrate/shake when idling). A PCV valve is recommended to be replaced to filter out raw gas and it was $3. Since the intake manifold was off, might as well change the gaskets.

I work at the shop as the business manager. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I like to research the reasons why it happens. I bought all my parts and they installed it, free of charge!

These are the original spark plugs: NGK 6240 / PLFR5A-11. I got them at $8/each
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/ngk- ... 15650086-P

Original Fuel Filter: 16400-41B1A / Made by Paraut. I got it for $13. Make sure to open the gas cap to relieve pressure. It's in the rear by the spare tire.

Original PCV Valve: 11810-31U00 / Made by Novo. I got it for $3. Take off the intake manifold and it'll be on the rear, passenger side of the engine. Change the intake gaskets while you are it!

Denso Air Filter: 143-2057. I got it for $9.

I hope this helps, if you need a tune-up! It made a big difference for me. Since labor was free, this was a great $73 tune-up!

I'm glad things seem to be OK now, but in my unending quest for truth and knowledge, I wanted to make a few comments.
For average US usage, the air filter is scheduled for every 30,000 miles, not 12. This aint 1967 :)
I am constantly frustrated by those who want to change air filters at the first sign of any dirt. They get dirty, that's what they do!
Unless you have been driving in extreme or unusual conditions, they will easily last 30K with no ill effect. They actually filter better after they get a layer of deposits on them.
As far as the fuel filter, the manual says replace it when it is clogged. No scheduled replacement. Being that you can't check it internally, and have little control over the cleanliness of the fuel going in your tank, I would submit that 30K is a good interval in spite of the factory recommendation. There are some really lousy non-factory fuel filters out there. Going for low price isn't always the best idea. Not a great place to skimp in my estimation.
Not saying you did anything wrong, but PCV valves rarely clog anymore either.
I'll bet your old one was fine.
Problems can also come up with non-factory PCV valves having an incorrect internal passage diameter, and thus affecting the idle speed.
I hope all stays well, enjoy.

I was always told 12,000 my whole life. They get very dirty by 12,000. It's better to pay an extra few dollars to get more life out of a vehicle.

Yes, "always told".
Things have changed a lot. Cars are much better and require less maintenance.
These filters are designed by very smart people to last for 30K.
I trust them.
Also, being in the business you should be able to justify your recommendations to customers with facts beyond " I was always told".
If you are going to contradict the factory on anything, you had better be able to back it up.

I'm a neat-freak when it comes to my truck. I change my oil every 2,000 miles, instead of 3,000. I prefer a new air filter ever 12,000 miles. I like everything to function as good as I can make it, especially since I'm at 152,000 miles. Air Filters are cheap and it doesn't harm the vehicle when putting a new one in. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars to keep it at a tip-top shape.

This whole tune up thing could constitute a thread all by itself.
Henry Ford actually coined the phrase "tune up" over a 100 years ago. Seems he was onto a good thing.
I'm an older guy, and I remember having to do annual tune ups on my old cars, usually just before winter.
Before unleaded gas, fuel injection, electronic ignition etc., you had to replace your plugs, points, distributor rotor and cap, and condenser about every 10-12,000 miles.
You also had to to a carb cleanup and adjustment (choke, idle speed, mixture, etc.).
I remember buying carb kits every year and replacing floats, gaskets, etc.
I also replaced the thermostat every 6 months. There was one temperature thermostat for summer, and a different one for winter.
It was a lot of work back then.
We are blessed with today's technology, which most car owners take for granted:
Spark plugs that last 100,000 miles, synthetic motor oils, electronic fuel injection, etc., etc. No more tune ups required. There's nothing to adjust.

As for your maintenance schedule, and when you decide to change your oil, your filters, etc., that's really up to you.
I personally feel that oil changes every 2,000 miles is overkill, as well as air filters and fuel filters every 12,000 miles.

I run Mobil1 synthetic, and change my oil every 6,000 KMS. (I'm in Canada).
I've never replaced my PCV valve. My fuel filter is at least 3 years old. No issues.
As for my air filter, I haven't replaced it in years. To be fair, I have a K&N drop in, and every couple of months, I just pull it out and wash it. Zero cost.

Enjoy your truck, and do what makes you happy.

Cheers.

So my truck keeps tripping the P1130 code (swirl control valve), even though it was replaced with a new one from the dealer. The hoses and everything were checked and they were fine. The P0335 code was never tripped, but I looked on All Data for the P1130 code. It did mention the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Anyone have a possible solution?
