No proper discipline equates to higher crime and disrespectful adults and children who would rather be tough guys and try to fight or even kill the cops instead of being respectful, honest, hard working citizens. Just wait, in 5-10 years this country will be in far worse shape and the crime rate will be much much worse, and you know why, because we can't spank our kids anymore or use any form of physical or harsh discipline. Go ahead yell at your kid or spank them in public and see if you don't have child protective services and a cop standing on your door step. All of this thanks to to the same hippy liberals that tell our police departments not to billy club a guy that is trying to hurt or kill them, instead they have to use pepper spray and a tazer and hope to god that they go down, if not well, if back up isn't around the corner the s*** in that video happens or worse some kids father or mother doesn't get to come home from work.
Even if any of that aimless rant is true, it doesn't negate the fact that you've admitted that the reason police departments are holding themselves to stricter standards than those required by law is because they don't want to piss off the communities they're simultaneously trying to protect and serve. What drives police decisions in this regard is PR, not PC.

They use pepper spray and tazers because people don't tend to want to inform on local crime if the people they would otherwise report to shot their kid dead or bashed their skull in outside of a convenience store the week before, not because there exist pacifists somewhere in the world. Even if you weren't telling two wildly different stories, and even if this particular story wasn't accompanied by an angry-old-white-guy-b****-a-thon, it still wouldn't make sense. How the hell do liberals tell cops what to do? Sue? On what freakin' grounds? Vote? No politician gets elected if anybody even thinks the phrase "soft on crime." Seriously, what's the mechanism?

How do liberals tell the police what to do? Really? The police, their budget, and their regulations are controlled by an oversight committee and those committees are a group of politicians. Since there are more liberals than conservatives in office right now. Are you following me yet?

As far as the lawsuits go, they are covered in the public information act, go to your local Dept. of Public Records and do some research you'll be shocked at the amount of money your local police dept. shells out to claims of abuse. Unless it's an egregious claim, wrongful death, and/or it's caught on video the news won't follow it and even if they do they generally won't follow it through the trial unless it's a Rodney King style incident.

No politician is going to use the words "soft on crime" but they sure as hell will say anything to get elected only to change their tune once their in office. I'm done IBCoupe, you are clearly trying to poke the bear until it gets the thread locked. You have obviously tunnel visioned on my comment about liberal politicians for one reason or another.

Because it was the dumbest thing you said (on here, at least; I'm not gonna touch the rants you made at Carlisle).

Further, if you had any familiarity with police administrators, you wouldn't have said it. As I have said repeatedly, and as you even said yourself, these determinations are made on the basis of liabilities and public relations so as not to hamper actual policework by eliminating community cooperation.

Honestly, dude, do you even think about what you're going to say/write before you do so? You can only sue for abuse if you've been abused. It's called "standing," go read a book. So unless the police have been beating up liberals exclusively, that's a shoddy argument. And if they have been, it's still a shoddy argument, because then the suits are probably justified.

Most of the politicians in power are liberal? Have you been in a freakin coma for the past two years?

Let me just say that I don't know how they do things in the your neck of the woods but in every jurisdiction I've lived and visited the cops have been fighting an uphill battle with public cooperation for years. The younger generations have a severe loathing and distrust of the police and the older generations don't want to get involved. Throw the fear angle into the mix with the major crimes and that's a totally different ball game.

As far as the liberals being in power comment, no I haven't been in a coma, they're the reason why this country is going to hell in a handbasket, but I digress. I'm not going to go and make this about politics. I'm old school, always have been, it's the way I was raised. I was raised to be courteous, respectful of my elders, and to do the right thing. Personally I wish we could go back to the old ways, and that has nothing to do with my age, it has everything to do with the fact that you can't do anything without worrying that you'll get sued, you can't own anything nice because no one has respect for personal property, and you can't go anywhere without wondering in the back of your mind if you're going to get jacked or killed for absolutely no reason.

The police can't enforce the laws made to protect us if they have to constantly be told not to hurt a suspect because he might sue the department, or his family might sue the department. Screw all this Public Relations BS and let the cops do their jobs. If that requires beating in a couple of skulls to get to the truth then so be it. I'm all for a kinder gentler nation, but that can't happen if the police can't do their jobs without fear of repercussions. I have no issue with the less than lethal equipment, I have no issue with updating techniques or training, but if a thug needs a beat down or if some whack job wants to be threatening then by all means beat their a**. If Joe Public wants to get out of his car and a cop reads the situation wrong and beats him down, then yes their should be repercussions, but as I said before law enforcement is just like combat, you have mere seconds (and sometimes less than that) to read a situation and pray that you make the right decision.

Seems to me you ought to be directing your displeasure to p****-a** cops who are afraid to do their jobs, rather than p****-a** liberals, who still haven't been demonstrated to actually have any part in any of this.

You're just rambling and making crazy assertions without actually having any kind of support to it.

A staggering amount of hyperbole and over-simplification is on display in this rant. Old-school, old-ways, etc... Meh.

Sounds like you're overly paranoid about getting sued, owning nice things, and going out into public. Perhaps it could be that you live in "Killadelphia."

It's alright, man. The world really isn't that scary of a place. Feel free to have nice things, go out into public, and "do stuff." It'll be okay. :dblthumb:

More hyperbole, more unhinged ranting. I am in 100% disagreement with this nonsense.

Law enforcement is not just like combat. In fact, a lot of the reason that officers of the law are getting in trouble more often with the public is because they've adopted a more paramilitary stance towards law enforcement. Citizens are not enemy combatants... That's just absurd to imply such a thing.

What is this talk about police being unable to enforce the law? Have you gone mad? What data has led you to believe this?

If a cop needs to beat some skulls to get the truth, then so be it? You're out of your mind. Law enforcement is not above the law, they ENFORCE THE LAW. Last time I checked, beating skulls is AGAINST THE LAW. Does that make sense to you?

Officers of the law need to fear the hand of justice when enforcing the law. They need to be held to a higher standard than you're suggesting.

Get a grip, man, please.

Abso-f***-lutely not! Don't pin any of this on me. Your sweeping rant about people laughing at the video being cop haters and p**** liberals started everything going right now. Don't be an idiot. I will call you on it every time. For the record the thread actually lost its whimsical nature here:
