I see no reason to have a back seat in my coupe.

I'm thinking of ways to fill this area that would allow me to hide my stereo equipment inside.

One idea I'm thinking of is to cover the hole behind what used to be the seat back with a panel and then make a piece that kind of continues the transmission hump up along the back, tappering to the rear window deck. This hump would be about as wide as the space between the two front seats so it would almost be flush with the seats reclined. Then I would mount my subwoofer in the hump just above arm rest level. The remaining areas would be rounded off a bit with a little foam and all covered with felt.

Imagine a huge chunk of clay in the back with the front seats reclined into the clay to make two depressions. And then a subwoofer in the middle.

Any thoughts?

NOOOOO, i wouldn't do it if i were you. you are going to regret it. you should think of it as, there is no reason for you take it out. if you think its a weight reduction, no you won't get as much as 10 lbs from the seats. if you think it'll look good....HAHAAAA nope it'll look UGLY. i'm telling you, you will regret gutting your car. if you are still going to gut at least save the seats.... i am now regreting for gutting my car and throwing my seats away.......

My main reason is to make it look more like a two seater and to bring the subwoofer into the passanger compartment.

I guess I could make a real nice black cover for the metal behind the back seat and drive around with them down but I figure what's the point.

You don't think boxing off the area behnd the drivers seats would look good if it contoured everything perfectly?
