OK, if there's an out of pocket i'll have to back out. My pocket's real thin right now with all the mods, can't get $650 past the CFO of the household for something she can't see.

It's hard enough get things like rims even, imagine someting that can't bee seen (or even felt by the less discerning ....).

Junior, i'm still good for a roadtrip in the future none-the-less, but i'm going to have to pass on a paid for product development.

Uprev should do all the work on your car for free. If they develop a reflash for the 3.5CVT im sure they'll make a lot of spare cash. The sooner they get a product out the more cash they'll make because there's just simply nothing else out there. It would just be a smart business move.

Not happy about it, but if they are willing to I will, but the cost between the tune and the travel is going to be close (but under) to $1K when you take gas into consideration (2 round trips from Dallas to Austin).

I agree, especially for product development, where the owner generally takes most of the risk. not that a tune is all that much risk, but there is some. Guinea Pig is not always what it's made up to be.

hmm it seems like it is a 400 mile round trip from austin to dallas. So i estimate it to be about a tank and a half of gas for 2 round trips, which comes to 90 bucks.

Where did you get 1000 gz???

I hope uprev is catching some serious flack for not giving the guinea pig a free flash, they should also pay you gas and any other accomidations you would need. Seems like a fly by night company.

Let me know if you go. I'll pay for a tank of your gas.

Dld,

OK, so it was an off the cuff remark on the cost, guys, any of you willing to front up the $650? BTW - I did a bit of math, based on 400 miles each round trip, a 21 gallon tank at 21 MPG (Which is 3 mpg higher than my CPU says), at $3.099 a gallon (just a drive by price) = $118 in gas, so, my adjusted statement on cost is $ 768 for this product development.

You're focusing on the gas rather than the idea that a product development is going to cost you. It's all nice an well that you've proven my gas math is in error, but would you be willing to front the $650 and I pay for the gas?

This all aside, if they were to promote something more reasonable (because they do have costs), I might be willing to consider it.

Also, not picking a fight with you DLD, just correcting my cost statement and asking all out there to do a gut check if they think this would be a good deal for them if they were in my shoes .....

Think about it.....

Heck no im not going to put up the 650 bucks.

They do have cost, yes you are correct. (i dont know what costs)

But they will get the money back 10 fold from the sales.

We would basically be doing them a favor giving them 650 bucks.

i was actually looking for this thread the other day to see what people said about it. i really want to see a 3.5se CVT get tuned. i heard that with the SE-R altima automatic that at certain times you could floor the gas and the ECU would only allow 80% throttle and isn't the CVT coupe even more restricted? plus it's been noted that at 90 MPH CVT gets a little slower. stick does 5.7 in 0-60 and CVT does 5.8 (stick can launch at a higher RPM so that explains it) but it seems like by the time it hits 60 mph they're about the same and then CVT drops off at 90. with a tune CVT should be just as fast, if not faster then stick (my GUESS, no real proof, just my theory).

I have a 2.5l and was down for the travel to Austin from Houston...Gas is not a problem, but $650 is. I mean hell I have a baby girl coming in 4 weeks...and I don't think the wife would ever consider letting me drop that kind of cash.

I've got a birthday coming up and between that, and this Economy stimulus package I might be able to swing this...But I still think paying to be a guinea pig is rediculous.

Well, i'm not getting a good feeling about this company right off the bat. I have e-mailed them twice now (About 3 weeks apart) and i have still recieved no response.

I do like the design of changing programs through cruise control buttons

Apparently UpRev is still looking for an altima to tune... http://uprev.com/uprev_blog/20...e-all/

Maybe someone should email them and see if they've come down on the $650 tune tag.

Hmmm... This is my first time ever reading this thread. I stay in Prairie View, bought an hour and a half from Austin. If we can talk to these guys and get them to come down a bit from the $650 price tag I'd probly be down to go, I'm always down for a road trip.

I'll admit though that I am a bit worried about bein the guinea pig because I don't want something to like, go wrong and void my warranty... Anyway though, I'm not too experienced with dealing with companies like this so if someone would try to negotiate with them, I'd be down to give it a try.

What do u guys think tho? Don't put me out there if yall don't think it's a good idea to try...
