My friend has a GTP with intake exhaust and header. He can beat mustang GT's barely and can beat me by a few cars to 60 but if we do like a 60 punch he doesnt pull on me at all and toward 110 I pull ahead a little but barley. Superchargers make something called like static pressure or something like that where at highway speeds they dont force as much air in and the air in the supercharger just gets churned around instead of going into the intake manifold. Maybe not all supercharged cars but i know the gtp does. Maybe its cause its supercharger is a pos Eaton blows unless you upgrade.

Can't say I've ever heard of anything like that.

i know what hes talking about. at certain speeds. the supercharger loses its performance ability. while driving on the highway, the air is already being pulled in pretty well, so the supercharger doesnt do much. thats why at higher rpms, the things are more of a hinderence than a performance option. i still want an SR with a supercharger and a turbo. a constant 500hp will rock my sox!

Well, i have never like those roots type blowers that Eaton makes. Centrifugal blowers dont have those problems, that's why i want a pro charger :)

I know a buddy of mine boosting 22 psi on a stock block with an aftermarket blower. Runs low 12's on street tires.

stock block GTP?? or?? I'm sure you are referring to a GTP, yeah, it can handle 22 PSI no prob. The series 2 3800 is alot better engine than the old 3.8 that the GNs had, and I know people who have put 27PSI to stock GN engines at the track.

nope sorry, AMERICAN cars are mostly DOHC now. How about the BMW 3.2 liter that makes 333hp? Noby ever bashes bimmer motors for lack of torque. Why does everone think that if it revs high somehow all the lowend torque magically disapears. Take a 3.8 liter supercharged v6, give it dohc and the ability to rev and you could have it pumping out over 350hp (hp is torque in action) in stock trim AND have more torque than before too. More valves=better airflow, pushrods are just cheaper to make. With variable valve timing and variable lift (oh the evil jap technology!) you can make EVEN MORE torque out of a engine that already makes good low end.

Actually Nissans are the torquey Japanese cars. Can the Z even rev to 7 thousand?

UGH, no, most AMERICAN engines are still pushrod. However, most of the new ones coming out are OHC (finally) I actually like OHC better, it's more efficient and they dont have the problem with floating valves easily the way pushrods engines do. I wasnt saying the torque went away from having a high revving engine, it just reaches peak torque at a higher RPM, which, makes the car a dog from a stop light. An M3 eh?? You see the price tag on that thing. It BETTER have a highly advanced engine for that price!! You get what you pay for, and American cars are built cheap, I'll agree to that anyday. As for giving American cars Variable valve timing.......the new Ford trucks have it in the 5.4, Caddy will have it, the C-6 Vette will have it, It's coming....and it will be in V8s :) I LOVE my 240, wouldn't trade it for ANY American car made right now.....ok, maybe an '03 Cobra, but if I really wanted one I'd go buy one.

I know Nissans are torquey. I like that. I dont know what the redline is on the 350s engine, but, with all that power, it should be able to beat a poor little 4 door Grand Prix that weighs 3,600 lbs and has an automatic trans and front wheel drive. Horse power looks good on paper, but, it's what it does in the real world that counts.
