Awesome. How much torque increase? (or is that the 420 you are talking about)

Definitely keep us posted once you get that baby on the road and tell us how it is.

Envious.

So, Dave....

Why the GTM SC kit? Why not the Stillen SC kit or an existing TT setup? What's the reasoning?

There seems to be two GTM SC kits. One "tuner" and one "turn key" with engine management. Is uprev part of the "turn key" kit or did you select that engine management? What trim is selected for the SC and why?

I'm interested in the back-story of your selection process and I'm sure others would too. Would make a great addition to the article :)

Well Valid questions. I am not a specific fan of Stillen or GTM. I have heard of stillen a lot and a little about GTM. The fields infiniti here even had a g37 coupe with the Stillen S/C installed on it. It was nice. I've read a lot on both and talked a lot to Josh at Stillen and Sam at GTM before making my decsion to go with GTM.
The Stillen kit looked to be a very quality s/c. The parts looked to be well made. You get a new intake manifold and the supercharger does mount on top driver side. The stillen kit is supposedly louder as well. This didnt bother me when I test drove the Stillen, it did not appear to be overbearing to me.
The stillen kit is on hold and not being sold at the moment until they get software figured out. The problem that people were having on other parts of the board is problems with the tuning. With the stillen kit you get the uprev software BUT you can not go and tune it yourself. It is locked by stillen. IF you want to tune it you have to buy the license for it which can be near a grand i think. Someone has tuned the stillen themselves and its working great showing that its more software issue than hardware. Stillen is right now on their 6th revision of the tune. ALso to get the warranty offered by Stillen yo have to use the CARB tune which is extremely restricted.

The GTM kit is a nice kit as well. I personally like the looks of it better. Less agressive with the s/c hidden down below and the intake tubes looking like cold air intakes. I got mine powder coated black as well. I also put a thermal coating on the intercooler to help with heat exchange. The GTM kit has had a couple of people installed with decent results. The only dyno other than GTM provided with their own car is on Shumby's (myG37.com) and it was on a 6psi pulley. He got really good results. In all honesty I felt more comfortable with the GTM kit. I also wanted a sleeper kinda of car too, so this worked as well.

The GTM turn key kit comes with everything and Sam will give you the updates that will work best for your car. You do a few runs with the uprev monitoring and SAM will adjust if needed.
The Tuner kit comes with everything that tuner kit comes with EXCEPT fuel system stuff (injectors, fuel pump) and no uprev cable or software license. The tuner kit was probably designed more for people who had the cobb access port (but now they are stopping support which sucks) and people who may have already had injectors or fuel pump done. Now if you hadnt done any of these things the Turn key will be cheaper by a long shot. Price difference between the 2 is about 700 dollars.

Great information.

I was wondering about the GTM "kit" as I do have a Cobb Access Port and I'm considering either TT or SC for early next year. "Lucky" for me I have another G that could possibly use the Cobb if I went for a GTM kit myself.

Wonder if Infiniti service centers will install and "warranty" the Stillen SC kit like they do for their other parts? Might be worth the install fee should Stillen fix their maps.

Why SC instead of TT?

The warranty will be through stillen. You will have to have the carb tune, and that is not done yet.

The SC vs TT well. that's opening a big bag of worms.

For me it was mainly cost. S/C is a bit cheaper and easier to install. TT you have to remove the engine if memory serves me well. S/C you do not. Also turbo lag. S/c Yo have the power right away. TT you will have more room to work with and get more tq and hp. The S/C will max out the car at stage 1. Stage 2 you may have to do internals. TT you will probably have to do internals unless you do a very laid back tune.

The CARB tune limit would be a game changer for me with Stillen.

Well break in is done. I did a couple of hard pulls. One of them I broke loose in 1,2,3rd gear and called it quits.

Not yet. Sam is working on it. He's got a good idea how to get rid of it. He said he needs a couple of weeks

He is thinking it could be a few things. It could be resonance from the s/c intake tubing, but highly doubtful, ANother theory is that it could be the vvel helping cause this.

Sol'ns are to possilbe put a 2nd bypass valve in with the first or put it further down onto the intercooler itself. He is currently working on it with another car and will pass the solution off to us.

Not yet. Everything looks fine, but Uprev has to give me an option on my rom to monitor A/F ratio and once they do that I'll be able to go dyno.

I don't think the cost between their SC and TT kits is as outrageous as everyone thinks. To me (being in CA) the biggest bonus of their SC kit is if it gets CARB approved because there is no way their TT kit will ever get it.

Also, some first hand info about the GTM's TT kit: 1) The motor does not need to be pulled. As a matter of fact, one forum guy installed their TT kit on his own in his backyard. 2) There is no noticeable turbo lag because the turbos are sized appropriately. 3) HR or VHR with a stock block works fine under 500 WHp as long as one doesn't beat the crap out of the car (e.g. running max boost at every stop light).

Your torque converter will be at the limits with any of those kits.

Anyone make a aftermarket which will hold the power and ensure longevity?
