YEAH. well Sam has just reported to me that the fluttering is fixed and I will be sent a part next week.

As far as the auto transmission holding up. Well it's tough to say. Most likely not without mods, Shumby on another forum did bust his 7at. He's sending to GTM for Sam to look at and come up with mods to hold the tq. Shumby busted his top 3 gears. they were slipping, but he was donig lots of hwy miles and he stated that he gets on it a lot while in higher gears.
The 5at on the 08s should have been the same as the g35 so there may be options. I havent really looked.

I have about 20K boosted miles on my 5AT. In addition to the trans cooler, I had the Transgo shift kit installed. Anyone thinking of boosting an AT really should get the shift kit because more than anything, it reduces fluid temps. The trans will spend less time "in between" gears which is what heats the fluid up.

Next tip, never boost in higher gears because of the strain on the transmission. I usually drop it into 3rd before I get on it, then upshift accordingy.

Finally, the biggest factor on longevity is not to beat the crap out of the car every chance you get. Even the mighty GTR will break down if sufficiently beaten on.

My 1st gear is not holding as well as it used to, but not quite bad enough for me to go the next step which is to add clutch packs.

That's what I was afraid of. As the wife won't drive a manual, and there are times she has to drive my coupe, I'm kinda screwed. I don't want to deal with expensive-azz transmission issues and I can't seem to get away with a 6mt at this point. Other than bolt-on's I'm probably stuck with what I have until I get me a dedicated speed queen.

A shift kit installed is roughly $1K which is a drop in the bucket compared to what you would be spending for the full project and well worth it. You might even consider a shift kit by itself just for the faster shifts. No need for a dedicated speed queen cuz you won't be in it when you need it. ;) I chose the AT because this is my daily driver and I need to deal with driving in traffic.
