where did you read that they were complaining about that?CA-mazing wrote:i read this on another forum where a guy found this article about the GT-R. you will be astonished and in total AWE!!! but GT-R owners main complaint is, they can't hear thr roar of the engine and exhaust, HAHAHA!!! BELIEVE IT!!

i'd still buy it.themadscientist wrote:I still don't care.
Yeah I read it, still don't care. Car manufactureres mistate HP figures all the time. The NSX, Supra and GT-R all had exactly 280PS for years, on paper. Until the new GT-R drops all the gizmos and grows a manual clutch or grows a sweet set of bewbies I will continue to be disinterested.CA-mazing wrote:i wasn't asking if you cared. i could "careless" what you care about. i just thought it interesting to read, and maybe that no one on here has seen it yet. did you even read the article, or just saw the title and the little bit i typed and decide that you didn't care?
base model starts out i believe around 70K. the track tuned version i believe is alil under 80K. and it's not a rip off. the article is saying that owners are getting more bang for their buck. and yes, i'm a big fan of skyline series, R32 GTS is my dream car, just the technology within the GT-R and the power it makes off of a V6 is incredable! even though it is twin IHI turbos, that max out at like 5 psi each, i think. Specs i found say 10.2psi, which i would assume is max. and scientist, you are "mad" for not wanting one. i mean who wouldn't want their HUD designed and engineered by the guys who make Gran Turismo?!Vandrel wrote:100k for a new GTR that everyone is going to be rolling around town in another year or less amount of money for a much more rare car pushing same if not more power after building it.
Real men who bang chicks and don't sip lattes pinkie out while watching the view.CA-mazing wrote:and scientist, you are "mad" for not wanting one. i mean who wouldn't want their HUD designed and engineered by the guys who make Gran Turismo?!
The FJ20 and CA18 are completely different. They share nothing. You can see CA18 influences on the RB20 but they are not direct carry overs. The coil on plug, belt driven cam on bucket and crank angle sensor placement. The way the oil pump is mounted and driven use the same technique and the earlt red top RBs had secondary butterfly-actuated ports like the CA18.CA-mazing wrote: but did read that the FJ20 was kind of a template for the CA. i haven't gotten my CA yet, cuz i'm getting all the stuff i need together first and installing all at once. so what do you think of the CA? i'm gonna drop in a coupe S13, and try to get as orig. S13 as possible.
wouldn't make any sense.. the g35 is the skyline just no skyline GTR produced..since they made the V35 they had this idea planned out for a few years now to split the 2..but i agree they should have made it manual automatic and even CVT & tiptronic FTLBriggs wrote:480 whp or not, I'd rather have the 32-34 as well. I don't want to list off all the things that I hate about the new GTR... But, well I hate the new GTR. Not because it's fast, but because it is no longer a Skyline. The only thing Skyline about it is the tail lights.
70K? Where do you think you are going to find one for 70K, after all the fanboi hype those things will be a lot more than that, they'll probably simmer back down after a year or so. Just look at the Prius. Everybody hopped on the wagon for that and payed 4K over MSRP just to be the first ones to get it.
I wish they would have made the GT-R it own model, and then made the Skyline R35 something closer to it's heritage. Something that actually lets you drive.
Sry, / rant.
yea, i thought i read that on FJ20.com but i saw that on wikipedia.....yea my bad on that one. i read another article (http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2930/article.html) and this guy refers the FJ20 as the forefather to the SR. although the FJ and CA are both iron blocks with aluminum heads, they don't share much after that. and yea, i've always heard the CA in a 4cyl RB. that was one of the selling points of why i'm getting onethemadscientist wrote:The FJ20 and CA18 are completely different. Why? those are inferior transmissions.Mr_Coupe wrote:

FJ and RB MAY make 500HP but that's with all things maxed out and with little margin of error for a blown up engine. And none will really pass emissions with their setup.themadscientist wrote:Real men who bang chicks and don't sip lattes pinkie out while watching the view.
Listen to the FJs and RBs and understand why the new R excites me as much as a Prius.http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=6C3c07MVG-A
500hp from 3.8 liters and more processors and servos than the mars lander? yawn. The FJ can get that from 2 liters and the RB more from 2.6; keep that thing.
The RB makes well over 1000hp maxed out and the FJ 700hp. No sleeves needed either, The RB better have a new crank though. If the VQ is any harbinger of the VR or whatever this new engine is called it will need a sleeve job to reach the RB26s neighborhood, even with the extra 1.2 liters and that rube goldberg valve train. Finally a top end SR20 guys can clown on. Honda is admitting defeat; "Nissan, you outgeeked us"Soravia wrote:

The GT-R is making around 500-550 crank HP with pretty low boost compared to tweaked out RB26DETT. If the GT-R gets a special treatment like the tweaked out RB26DETT, it'll easily get at least a couple hundred more HP, all without blowing the engine.
As for the electronics, it's a love and hate affair. Most people will have a hard time driving the GT-R if it didn't come with all that stuff. Then the sales would be similar or fewer than the Viper. Hopefully, the V Spec will get rid of some of the extra electronics.
As for the clutch, I don't think it will ever have a manual clutch. Manual clutch's speciality is 'slipping' to adjust torque applied to the wheels. The new clutch on the GT-R is designed so that ALL torque from the engine is applied to the wheels. Get the idea?
My RB25 is making 450whp at 14psi on E85 with bolt-on's and no sign's of motor blowage. And my car passes emissions as well. So I'm not exactly sure where you're getting your facts but you may want to recheck them.Soravia wrote:
