No...in the US they call it the V35 G35. In Japan it is the V35 Skyline. There is NO R35 in production yet.

And like others said, you have a picture of an R34.

yea, i wondered why nissan took such a wierd turn when making the new skyline, they have their 'V35', and they gave us the skyline FINALLY, but its slower than the cheaper (and more sporty IMO) 35oZ, and now they're going to make the 'R'35 and give it to us as an infiniti also? they shoulda just kept the r35 looking and mechanically almost the same as the R34, shipped it here with a nissan badge, left the G35 alone (dont call it a skyline) and price it around 55k or so (the GTr i mean)

until you actually drive the production version of hte R35 GTR (which will just be known as the GTR btw) hold your opinions. And many people said that the r33 couldnt be out done, but guess what, the r34 beat it in damn near every aspect, so i have perfect faith that the new GTR will continue the skyline heritage and will be an amazing car.

I love the G35/V35, and im sure the final production version of the R35 will be amazing in its own right, I started this post back when the really ugly concept version was around.

Why does everyone have so much love for the BNR34? The BNCR33 was not as good as the BNR32. It wasn't a matter of beating a BNCR33, the BNR32 stomps a BNCR33. The BNR34 was all about destroying the BNR32 and the 400R. The R33 was pretty much a more heavy, rounded version of the R32. The chassis is nearly identical in every way.

The V35 is a very nice car, makes more power than the Z33, and handles a lot better too. People need to be open to new things, I think. The 'Race Breed' series is dead. For the next GTR they should use a VRH35L. Its a 3.5l TT V8 from the R390...

i see where you're coming from, but lets get your facts straight. All of the GTRs since the r32 have been nearly identical, hoewver have steadily gained weight over the years and tads more tq and hp. Wether or not the r34 was made to destroy the r32 is controversial, however it was not made to destroy the 4oor what so ever. The nismo4oor was a 4oohp tuned rb26dett motor inside the chassi and shell of a bncR33, explain to me how a 'nearly identical to stock r33 (the r34)' can 'destroy a 4oohp tuned skyline gtr? wont happen. And i agree with you that the v35 is a very nice car, however it is NO more powerful than the z33 (same vq35de motor producing 287hp). And just for the record, i love all skylines, no matter what year, most of them look damn cool especiall for theri time. Also, the v35 doesnt handle any better than the z33, actually, compared to the track model their nearly i dentical, however hte z33 actually outperforms the v35 because of a couple lbs weight difference. The vrh35L motor used in the leMans series r39o GT1 car produced amazing HP figures, however to compete in LeMans a road car version of the race car must be produced also, thats the only reason nissan made the r39o road car, which btw only produced about 35ohp (it was severly detuned since there was no need to actually produce more than one). BTW, nice car you have, any pics?

EDITS: the vq35de used in the G35coupe/v35 skyline is actually rated at 28ohp, 7hp less than the 35oZ.and the nismo400r i mentioned above has a motor officially code named RBX-GT2 which is based off of an RB26 block stroked out to almost 2.8liters(2771cc)

The whole problem has been Renault taking over Nissan. Ever since then things have started going downhill (in 1996 I think). Now all new Nissans/Infinitis are going with this stupid round, bulbous, concept look on the actual production cars. As far as I am concerned, Renault can burn in hell! If I ever meet any of the new Nissan management, designers, etc I will kill them. They've taken the Datsun/Nissan/Infiniti namesake and completely raped its past history, achievments, cars, etc. That is completely unforgivable. Look at the 350z, it isn't "retro" like they were going for; it completely bastardized what the original DatsunZ and z32 were. The 350z looks exactly like an AudiTT (although I will admit it looks better than the AudiTT). The most unforgivable thing IMO is the new Skylines. The Skyline was and always will be an inline 6 car. Ever since the Datsun Skyline 2000gtr, it has always had an i6. Now they are supposedly going to use the vq35 for the "r35". As far as I am concerned Nissan is dead, the Nissan/Datsun Z is dead, the Skyline is dead. Nissan doesn't exist to me anymore. I am only thankful that the Datsun/Nissan of the past made so many awesome cars like:

-z31/z32-240/260/280z/zx-kpgc10/kgc10....-s13/s14/s15-r30/r31/r32/r33/r34-Maxima-Cefiro-Cedric/Gloria/Cima-m30/Leopard

And the list goes on. Those are more than enough cars to keep me busy until the new "Nissan" decides to clean it's act up and make some damn real Nissan's.

i wouldnt neccsarily go so far as to say that nissan is dead. But as far as a prospering company, nissan is in some of its best years. But i do agree that the performance aspect of nisan is slowly declining. Without the 35oZ, inssan would have no 'sports' car whatsoever

How can you possibly say that Nissan started going downhill in 96??? Since then, Nissan has made a HUGE turnaround. I admit that I don't care for the way all the new Nissans look the same, however, it's working. I don't care who disagrees, but it *IS* working. Renault has helped Nissan climb out of their life-threatening bankruptcy and come back up on the market as one of the biggest car manufacturers around.

Their may be less bad-*** performance cars from Nissan out now than there was in the late 80's/early 90's....but let's face the facts, sports cars are not what sells the best. If it wasn't for Renault, Nissan would already be dead. So despite the fact you don't like Nissan's current styling (and either do I really), it has not "killed" Nissan, but instead helped them.

Yeah, Nissan has made a financial turnaround but, that doesn't mean anything if they just mass produce bland, boring crap like they are now. For the love of God, you can go buy a Nissan Quest minivan or Pathfinder with the same vq35 that's in Nissan's current "top" sports car, the 350z. Yes there are slight differences to the engine but, that is still pathetic. I don't care how they are financially as long as they produce awesome vehicles. IMO, the late 80's to mid 90's was Nissan's best period of time. The sheer amount of vehicles and different engines they made just gave everyone a huge variety to choose from, which is quite the opposite today.

nissan wouldnt be using hte VQ so often if it didnt have a damn good reason, and actually, they have two damn good reasons: 1. It makes tons ofmoney for nissan2: 'Its the best v6 motor the industry has ever seen' *quote from Car and Driver

I could sweaar I read that the V35 made like 7-10Hp more than the Z33.. I'll have to investigate... A stock BNR34 beating a 400R is more than little off the wall, but you get my point. The R34 was not a succesor to the R33, rather the R32. Japanese always thought the BNR32 was better than the BNCR33. This is one reason the R33 was sent to compete in Le Mans. The 400R and the GTR-LM were street versions of Nissan's Le Mans cars. The RBX-GT2 was actually built by HKS for Nismo if I recall correctly... I knew the facts already, like the RBX-GT2 makes [email protected], and that there were only 99 made.

I think the entire concept is a waste of time and money in research and development.

you're close, but have it backwards its the z33 that makes the additional 7hp over the V35. And yes i understand your point, i just thought a stock r34 taking on a 4oor was a bit out there. And i had no idea hte rbx-gt2 was made by HKS, thats very interesting, and not only did the motor put out 4oohp, but it put out 347ft lbs of tq @ only 44oorpm as well!, not bad for a straight 6. And only 99 made, talk about limited , i wonder how much they would go for now, i know when new in 97 they sold for 1ook, and i would spend my 1ook on that over a 1ook nsx in a heartbeat, just goes to show u how overpriced the NSX is

the G35 outhandles a 350Z due to the stiffer chassis via the rear seats...it's aobut 4 in. longer i believe and is actually overall a better car...that's why it's an Infiniti :pface
