Can a grounding kit be used on a g-35 Coupe 6MT? If it can, will it improve the cars response? I have mostly heard it being used in the G-35 Coupe 5AT. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Thanks! I think I am somewhat convinved. So, I am now going to add this to the unorthodox non-underdrive pulley system I intend to install in the coming months.

If possible... can you install the Grounding Kit before the pulley's first? I would like to know if there is a difference. I'm eyeing this mod as well..

Thanks

G-

That's the order I installed my grounding kit (1st) and pulley (2nd).

I was able to tell a difference after each install. More of a quicker acceleration/throttle response feel than overall hp or top speed feel.

I agree with you. I think I will install the kit before the pulleys.

Thanks for the info! How long have you had your undedrive crank pulley? what year is your G-35? Any problems so far with the underdrive crank pulley? How many grounding wires are your grounding kit----6 or 8? Where did you buy your grounding kit because I am looking at ordering it in about two weeks if I can find a place to buy a good one?

Thanks Fatire... but... you have an AT... so apparently there is a big difference unlike MT (according to some people)

Jacko has the MT... so I'm interested in his feedback

BTW Jacko... the link I gave you is apparently a VERY reputable company with excellent customer feedback! You may want to order from them!

Me to Jacko3!! Do the grounding mod first...I can't see it helping but it is of interest.

My bad - I didn't notice you had the 6MT. I can't speak to what gains you should expect from the ground wire kit with the manual transmission.

To answer your questions -My G is a 2004. No problems with the U/D crank pulley so far. It squeaked a little bit after a couple of weeks, but from I understand that is normal. A quick retensioning of the belts and no problems since. I have the 10 wire kit from http://www.groundinggear.com. After reading all of the reviews and research that Gordo put in to developing the product it was a no brainer decision for me.

Good luck and let us know what you end up going with.

What's going to happen with you guys is that your ECU and other engine electronics are going to run better and more efficiently, allowing your engine to run better and more efficiently. I don't know if you've explored the whole website, but there's an analogy that is quite good about speaker cables. If any of you have a surround sound system at home and have a DVD player, you notice a huge improvement in sound/video quality with higher-end cables rather than the ones that came in the box. I upgraded the cables on my system and it sounded and looked completely different. Back to the grounding kit. The big reason they're great with the ATs is because it improves engine response, but also transmission and response...couple those together and you have a pretty big improvement. You guys should get all the benefits, just without the transmission.

Hope that made sense and wasn't a rehash if you guys already did some research.

I bought a very nice set of wires from eBay, I requested additional cables for the ECU and AT, I think they were an additional $20, so total was around $70 shipped

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...88731

Came with very clear instructions specifically for the VQ and wires were thick 4 gauge and well finished.

A great deal, just haven't got around to fitting them yet - waiting for warmer weather

Here's what I don't get

Quote »“Ok, so I just received the full 8-wire system today and installed it on my '05 6MT. Inoticed that throttle response was much better, the rpms also seem to drop faster as wellwhen the clutch is in and I'm off the throttle. Also, when I was WOT in first gear exiting acorner, VDC kicked in and it felt completely different. Instead of a jolt when VDC tries tosort you out, it wasn’t sudden at all - almost as if it were just helping you along instead ofsmacking you in the face.” S.L. Found this article looking for reviews on car audio stuff. The kit was tested on an automatic, but I think its worth a read through.
