I probably think less of FF 7 than you do

Here are my reasons- lackluster story, very little playability, extremely difficult on go-through mode (forced to raise Chocobo's to beat the game which is a cheap gimmick), uninspired music (MIDI music I might add)

I'm of the opinion that FF VI is the last truly "great" FF game and the true heir of the FF series, not VII.

Here's my list, from least to best.

10. Chrono Cross - One of the few who think it's better than CT9. Castlevania SOTN- the best-looking 2D side scroller, bar none8. Earthbound7. Morrowind- FREEDOM!!! 6. Palladium5. Call of Cthulu4. Final Fantasy 4- wellrounded in every aspect3. Skies of Arcadia2. Lunar Silver Star Story- strongest character development and dialogue1. PANZER DRAGOON SAGA - I'm so relieved this game is getting the recognition it deserves. Being a lifelong lover of dragons and and the art of Mobius I friggin fell in love with this game at first sight. There's never a more inspiring and eclectic ensemble take on dragons. There's a definite ode to the old 40's, 50's American film noir in the CG cutscenes, a quality I can really appreciate being a film student. This game collects so many revolutionary and exotic elements and creates a style all its own, even PD Orta on the Saturn didn't come close. I'm convinced that had the creators been given another 20 tries to make this game, they couldn't do it any better. Damn I love this game!

I hear ya on this one. The thing I like most about Morrowind- freedom and open-endedness- can be divisive. At times I also thought the game was uneventful and the characters, definitely lacking an emotional arc that most traditional, linear RPG's have.

But Spec's right in that emotional intimacy, great storyline and freedom arent mutually exclusive. PDS doesn't feature a linear storyline - there's a million different variables that effect both the dragon's growth and the unfolding of the story- depending on where you go and who you interrogate.

That said, games like Morrowind aren't for everyone. Either you're gonna love the liberating freedom or loathe it.

Right on! Theres little doubt PDS was inspired by this movie but its also borrows heavily from Miyazaki's manga classic Nausicaaof the Valley of Wind and the 1983 anime of the same name. The look of the mecha-organic monsters looks very similar if not identical to some of the Izanbunchi-created machines found in The Record of Lodoss War, Nu Gundam: Char's Attack and the Patlabor series. Funny you also mentioned Front Mission 3 in your top ten list_ Kow Yokoyama, the man responsible for the robot designs was a consultant for the bio-organic monsters in PDS.

You guys forgot about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

That game is nucking futs!

Anyway...

I just canceled my FFXI suscription as well... It got really boring really fast. It took like twice as long to gain a level than in any other game I have played, also it had a 4 billion levels you had to go through... very boring...

I want to play that game. Peter Moleyneaux (however the hellyou spell his last name), creator of Fable said he loved this game in a recent interview.

Ok, just wanted your opinions on Unlimited Saga. I saw it for only $20, thinking it prolly sucks. But you never know. Thanks.
