You cant tell me a company can sell millions upon millions upon millions of game copies with mediocre titles. There are 8 blizzard titles that have sold over a million copies each. Every time they release a new expansion, it becomes the best selling expansion of that year. If a game sucked, why buy the expansion?

All I have to do is multipy a average $40 by 10,000,000+ copies to know blizzard's games are good. I dont think there are any other video game companies that can boast $57+ million in sales every year for 7 strait years (and going). Hell, diabloII's expansion sold over a million copies in the first month.

I would love for FO 3 to come out :fruit.

The landscapes and locations were very real and gritty.but FO tactics was too much of just a shooter game no plot or real thinking neccessary and i agree it was as good a game as FO 1 or 2.

Yeah this has definatly got me thinkin of FO2 again, but a new game would rock.

Fallout tactics was a shot at online gameplay but they did it completely wrong in my opinion, making it more of a stratagy game than a role playing one.

1. Final Fantasy 1-10 (including 8, can't beat that storyline)2. Final Fantasy Tactics3. Mario RPG4. Shenmue5. Star Ocean6. Grandia II7. Tales of Phantasia

Everything you said!except..i haven't played 5-7. or Mario RPG. I also liked Suikoden 1 and 2. Very excellent games. i actually never got to beating Suikoden 2. I just left off near the very end, same with Final Fantasy X. left off near the end, then my ex-bf took it from me. which was evil. because it was a x-mas present for me.

i really liked Parasite Eve 1 (if that counts, i think it does) the music was good, and it had a nice creepy feel to it.

I also liked Secret of Mana 1

eh. i think that about covers it.

those aren't really rpg's are they? they're classified under action/adventure. i mean i know you "level" but it's not really important. i would say they're action.

Fallout 2 Check out the screenshots:http://www.interplay.com/fallout2/screens.html

Not adavnced graphics (1999) but superior plot, were you can really make decisons like you really would and are not oushed ina direction, can come back to any spot any time.

Maybe that's cuz you're too damn biased. Get with the program man!

:D

Hmm...haven't really played that many RPG's but here goes...

10. Parasite Eve9. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night8. Final Fantasy IV7. Dragon Force6. Legend of Oasis5. Shining Force III4. Shining the Holy Ark3. Guardian Heroes2. Secret of Mana1. Panzer Dragoon Saga

Tom, that's a beautiful review you wrote there for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I personally don't care much for the newest RPG offerings on console systems. In fact, I think the genre itself is pretty stale right now- hiding shoddy gameplay behind a facade of minigames.

That's probably the reason why I love Panzer Dragoon Saga so much- it combines the best elements from RPG's, shooters, adventure/platform and puzzle genres. Of the myriad of RPG's out there, exploring maps and searching becomes tedious whereas in this game you are completely immersed in a surreal dreamscape.

The battle system in this game is head-and-shoulders beyond any other RPG I've played. The standard combat system in RPG's now is based upon selecting one command without having any actual, direct control over the characters whereas in PDS you have control over aspect of the battle.

When all is said and done, I feel it's not only the best RPG ever developed but the greatest videogame ever made- truly a transcendent piece of gaming history. You wouldn't happen to have the game handy do you? I'm dying to get my hands on the game again without having to shell out $200 on Ebay.

Fred, I played Fallout 2 a little over a year ago. Even then, I couldn't quite recommend the game - graphics were somewhat mediocre (even back then), the interface was odd and at times, downright irritating. I'm also impartial to 3/4 perspective videogames.

i will admit that i am biased. i've thousands of hours worth of game, and over the years i just simply pefer console RPG's over PC rpg's. i played Marrowind and its a cool game. you have tons of freedom to do/go where you want. but it would seem that the games strong point is its weakness. the whole time i was playing the game (4-5 hours) the pace was a slow painful crawl. the world was so massive i didn't know where to go or what to do. thats same goes with Altima Online. also the animation was really chopp-ie which gave me motion ; thats almost impossible to do.

this is why i pefer console RPG's. the very momment you start a new game. its show's you CG or hand drawn clips to draw you in. and next thing you know you can't sleep without thinking about poor Aeris :(. and thats exactly what a game should do... it should move you and get your emotions involved ( :(  :D ). and IMO Konami, Square, Enix (before they merged), Nintendo and others do thats very well. recently i've played some games that i thought were so damn good it should be nominated for an Oscar. if you enjoy doing what you want (get married or hack some poor unsuspecting GIRL in the WOODS!) pc RPG's is the way to go...lol. but i pefer to play a game where i find myself playing until 4-5 in the morning :ylsuper because of the lost of a main character in the game. but thats just me....(different strokes for different folks.)

Seriously I have been playing RPG's since aroound 1989. RPG's arent what they used to be. I like the CGI openings and whatnot but to me too much emphasis is put on the. Like playing Final Fantasy is almost like watching a movie. I enjoy them, font getr me wrong but a game like morrowind adds some flavor to the RPG mix. The last RPG I thoroughly enjoyed besides Morrwind was Final Fantasy 7. I would liek to see Square make their games less linear. It IS possible to have both.

I liked Xenosaga a little bit. Didnt enjoy it too much. It wasnt horrible or anything. I am just kinda old school I guess. I liked the old NES RPG's that didnt have a drawn out story and had exploration factors. Wander around and find some odd village in the middle of the ocean on an island. THen play Final Fantays 10 and you have a damn map or the corner of your screen that TELLS you which way to go. All the Dragon Warriors and the old Final Fantasys had that. And the games were actually hard. I can count on one finger the number fo times i have died on the PSX generation Final Fantasys and other RPG's. I think Fable will change the way RPG's are looked at. If whatthey accomplish what they have said they will, that game will in my opinion revolutionize the genre. Settling in towns, gettign married, growing old, it is supposed to have a financial system like no other. Have alot of potions or short swords in a town or area, well the price will go down because they are plentiful. Have one set of armor and the price is high because that is a rare item. There was some other stuff I read recently when they interviewed the creator. Sounds like an awesome game that will surpass Morrowind in almost every department

Just for your information, I could be wrong I'll have to check, but I believe I read in a magazine last month that a new panzer dragoon will be released sometime mid-2004. Once again not for sure, I have to try to find that stupid magazine.

Thanks for the falout BOS links guys.

I will likely buy it if it comes out for PC.I suspect it will be more of a shooter than a RPG ( they call it action game).

I didnt like FO tactics ( too little thinking ,unlike FO1&2 where fighting was never a mission in itself, but just a choice on how to achieve it) and i suspect FO BOS might be similiar.

But because its A FO game I may play it anyway because I LOVE the postapocalyptic wasteland.
