I think folks tend to take more issue with some of the BMW owners, and not the car itself.

Oh and i dont disagree. i came within a signature of picking up one back in may, but the dealer experience and the owners in general were major turn offs.

Sounds a little raspy.

The S54 is a great sounding engine, though.

The M3 is already very raspy at the high rpms. Sounds great tho. Loved the way my M3's sounded. My cayman sounds waaay better tho.

Definitely. A nice throaty growl is always nice to hear, but raspy, tinny, farty noises just aren't pleasant to the ears. A GOOD sounding exhaust will isolate the growl and burble and get rid of the tinny noises. This is why I can't stand Flowmaster or a lot of "Euro" exhausts. They seem to think it's cool to sound like to left a bunch of nails in your muffler.

I realize it's not a fair comparison, but I'll take this over the noise in the OP any day:

I agree, too raw and farty. Makes me want to light a match or reach for toilet paper.
Eisenmann makes an excellent system for BMW's. Hard to beat their sound.

I was told by a salty old exhaust guy once that thickness of pipe (ha!) has a lot to do with the buzzing, tinny noises. Could be wives tale, but the system he fabbed up for my FC using the Magnaflows I bought was aural sex. Big fan of Magnaflows!
