Whoever is quoting you prices on EMS's is taking you for a ride. I have the AEM and it was ALOT less than 2G. I also know the various other ones out there can be had for much less than 2g.

Jspec is in much the same spot i am in.. And I know a standalone EMS isnt for me. You cant just make blanket statements like "standalones are better, you should have one"

I'm interested in tuning, and i dont want something as simple as an SAFC.. but that doesnt mean i know the first thing about making my own wiring harness or tuning a base map. I have only paid access to a dyno and i dont have the money to spend days learning.

I stand by the emanage as a good solution for anyone that needs/wants more than an SAFC but doesnt have the money/knowledge/dyno access for a full stand alone.

The e-manage is essentially a glorified S-AFC.

The same could be said for the AEM system by someone that owns a Motec.

There is always something bigger and better... it's just differentiating what you can afford, and what you want/need out of the system. For most people the AEM is overkill, and for some the AEM is perfect, and for a very few the Motec caliber system is the only alternative. Just because someone utilizes something within their means does not make it inheriantly bad. It might not be ideal, but often times life isn't ideal.
